Checked tyre pressure on the Prado the first time today at 1500km from new. Front and rear sitting at 43psi. Is that alright or too high? Nothing mentioned on the 1000km check up report.

That would be at the high end of normal, everyone has their own idea on exactly what's right. How does it ride? People will probably tell you anything from 28 - 45psi is OK, just depends on what you prioritize the most, comfort, tyre wear, fuel economy......

Or is it different for the 150?
Was testing a new air compressor and first thought the dial would be out at 43, but confirmed spot on at the servo.

I've often wondered why my there is such high pressure when I get new tyres. I assumed it was something to do with getting a good seal on the bead. I am going to ask next time... 43 is not a comfy ride in the Prado.2010 Prado GX 3.0L TD - "Paul" - TJM XGS 40mm Lift Kit, Firestone Coilrite Airbags, 5000kg Rated Front Recovery Points, Sure Power Battery Isolator and Dual Battery Setup, Airtec Snorkel, HID High Beam Headlights.

I run 40, because by the time I check them again, they will have dropped to 36 or so.

When mine was delivered, I had two at 48, one at 50 and the last at 46, cold. Pre delivery checks my arse and you pay for it too.
I'd knock them back to 34-36 and keep an eye on the shoulders for any feathering. I only had mine of for 6000km's and they were wearing well at 34psi, ride was nice and comfy too.

My dealer always seem to drop mine to 32 psi when it gets serviced. I ask them not to touch them but no guarantee anyone reads anything.. Normally sit at 38-40 for road work

Used to run my standard Grandtreks at 36PSI, run my Cooper AT3's at 34PSI.
I use the rule of checking cold pressure readings, going for a long drive to get tyres warmed up, want 3-4 PSI increase over cold tyre pressures.
Also keep an eye on the front tyre wear on the outsides as an indicator, and rotate tyres every 10K religiously.
Just had my 40K service completed last Friday. Asked dealer to not rotate the wheels or adjust tyre pressures as I get my local Cooper tyre dealer to do a wheel alignment every 10K. The car was a rough as guts since the service last Friday. Checked the tyre pressures today - 40PSI cold.
The Toyota dealer obviously knows better than me!Here for a good time, not a long time!
