Had 5x 275/65/R17 Bridgestone D697's fitted last week and am very happy with them. Fit under the spare wheel cover and look trick to boot. The steering and ride now feels more direct and I'm going to have better off road grip.

Just had 5x 265/70/R17 BFG AT fitted and had no chance of fitting the cover. I had to remove the rear section of the cover and pack the wheel to keep it off the door. I find it strange some can fit the covers with BFGs and others like me can't.

the 265/70/R17 have a larger outside diameter. The recommended tyre for the 150 is 265/65/R17 or 245/70/R17.
The first number 265 is the tyre width. the second number 65 is the aspect ratio.

Did you find a answer on the Mickey T's Bailey? Keen to get the same tyres but can't seem to find anyone that has tried the wheel cover.
              cheers

Nah no luck. Tried and tried again but can't for the life of me get the spare cover on.

Next issue was if you remove the black surround behind the tire, the tire now rubs on the car..... Will need some sort of spacer to get it off the car...

I couldn't fit the cover on with the P3's. I actually prefer the look without it so not too fussed.

Edit: I had to remove the reR cover as well and put some spacers on behind the rim to avoid rubbing on the rear door.

Looking at fitting the new MT STZ's in 265/70/R17 to my 150 GXL. Has anyone had success, or heard of the hard cover fitting over these? or should I be looking at 65/R17's instead?

Go the 65/R17's. I don't understand why people fit the 70/R17's. They are slightly larger profile. And that is why they don't fit under the cover. The larger profile gives a softer ride but will roll a bit more. I also am not sure if it is legal to fit 70R17 when the manufacturer states you should use 65R17.

I got 70's and love em. That extra bit of diff height helps too, especially when your still on standard height like I am and the extra tyre contact on the ground helps heaps.
I prefer the uncovered look anyway.

Wish list in order I'll get them: Sliders, 2" lift, E-locker, Winch bar with winch.

I am glad I went the 70's also. They look great, brilliant off-road and at the end of the day getting rid of that ugly tyre cover was probably a blessing, it was catching stones behind the rear section of the cover and car which caused a fair bit of damage to the paintwork in sections. I can only imagine the rust it would have caused to the door if not attended to with all the beach work we do.

What did you use as a "spacer" to stop the tyre rubbing on the rear door?

I originally used a few large washers just to get by but have just put 3 x nolathane shock absorber top bushes (like the pic below) on the wheel bolts. I had these lying about in my junk box and do the job perfectly. You should be able to grab some Supercrap auto for a few bucks.

Thanks mate. I was originally thinking large washers also, but thought there had to be something better out there..
