Tow/Receiver Hitches compatible with '97 Prado

Hey everyone! I just found this forum searching on line and I'm new to "Prados!" :lol:

I've got a 1997 Prado and am looking for a class III or IV receiver/tow hitch with 2" square opening and can handle a tongue weight of at least 500 lbs. Who makes them for our vehicle? If possible, I would prefer the kind that also have a square opening on the side; I'm using the hitch for a motorcycle carrier and my carrier slides straight into the hitch but has 2 supporting "L" shaped arms that go into the side square openings under the vehicle to support it more.


For what it's worth I'm an American living in Malaysia. We don't have the Prado in America so I'm not that familiar with them. Here in Malaysia they are very popular BUT I haven't found many options for aftermarket accessories. Most things come from Australia.

Virtually nobody tows in Malaysia so you'll be hardpress finding a towbar there. Having said that, there are no rules so you can pretty much do whatever you want

Sorry - silly newbie question here: The ebay add says for 95 series; is that the same as the 90 series?

I know in the US you still get the 4runners... the 96-02 (rough years) VZJ185 series 4runner has the same chassis although the prado one is beefed up a lot
