  • 95 Series Sub/Belly Tank clearance

    Anyone with a 90/95 Series have any issues off'road with clearance on the sub/belly tank?

    Any issues getting stuck on ground because of it?

    Mate I've scraped the top off many a mound and never been caught up on it. Might be a little different on solid rock. Mine has a 2 inch lift so that certainly helps

      Anyone else with opinions

      I have the RV which has no sub tank, but I've found a whole setup in a wreck cheap and was looking at installing it.

      However as I use the the car more for off-road warrior than touring anyway I'm not sure i should waste my time.

        Mate there's a fair bit of work to fit the std sub tank. Unless you removing the whole system from a wreck truck and fitting up with factory wiring loom's, fuel line's, switching and the like's. I would imagine it's a minefield of wiring, even with the factory gear. Don't get me wrong, I love the fuel range of my GXL, but if you don't need it for touring. I'd leave it how it is. It would be a major PITA

The to do list is getting shorter.

          Yep got stuck on my sub ,smashed it in and got stuck this was on the same bit of track the day after i went up it and touched nothing

          to fit one isnt hard and cetainly worth while if you ask me
          Im not too sure but id say you might have the wiring already but if you dont all it needs is a relay to the change over soloniod and a few wires to the gauge along with pump

            The sub tank does hang down quite low, and IMO it's an issue on all series of the Prados. When going up rock steps its one of the most common and weakest points to be hit (followed by the rear LCA mount bracket). I've bent my sub tank guard countless times and the tank itself is pushed in as well. That said, it's only stopped forward progress due to my mechanical sympathy, so it's still surviving.

            One other point to consider is the rear prop shaft can hit the tank/guard on extreme flex. So for those chasing extreme flex with 80 or 100 series rear shocks, that darn sub tank is in the way. I'm often thinking about removing that tank for this reason, but fuel range is still slightly more important for me.
