  • Rear diff locking

It is been difficult to lock the rear diff on my -96 KZJ90. Diff lock light keeps blinking.

Last time it was locked althoug light blinking. And after I turn the swich off, light went off but rear diff was locked (with 4HI, too!)

After switching it on and off many times forward/backward at low speed, it engaged and start to work better. Still it takes very long time before blinking change to continuous.

I think it cause of lack of using. It works better if I have used it regularly. Is there any easy way to fix this problem?

Problem solved. The quilty one was the motor, it was corrosied to crap.

I was lucky and found a good used motor with same part# with very reasonable price.

Ahhh.... we don't have those electric factory rear diff locks in Australia!

On that note, does anyone know if the Jap 90 series prados have the same rear diff as the Aussie 95 series prados? I want to get one of those electric diff lockers. Would it fit in? What's my diff ratio? (Trans / axle code A343F A02A).

        Why

Why? so it can corode. Park on concrete,go to full lock, select FWD,now do circles and listen, here that screaming, thats your tyres waisting away because your diff is locked. No point in locking it twice but each to his own.

Well at $1400+ fitting for air lockers per axle plus the the price of the compressor, its a hell of alot cheaper. I see your point Carrot.
