  • Transfer Case Breather

Anyone have any ideas to extend the transfer case breather plug... When I went underneath to check it, it seems you cannot unscrew it as no wrench hold n it's flush with the transfer case body. It's not like the rear axle breather where you can use a wrench to unscrew it. Hops you guys can help me.

I'm not sure about the transfer breather either All I found to be removable was the cap.

The front breather is already plumbed half way up the engine bay, on the passenger side (for Americans, that's the driver side).

"Installing vents and Transfer Box in Meru Toyota
In one of those moments of "I can make it to the donkey," I can think of lifting
these vents and transfer case, and good after so inquire and ask me
ventured in performing this task. The first thing I do is locate these vents
that are getting me up and transfer box respectively, opposite
of the levers, which is why we decided to disarm the upholstery where are the levers and get
quickly. I notice that the vents are not easily removed as the
transmission but are fixed to the box, and study how to attack the problem exploiting the
little space between the box and the covering and without salt gan hoses, this is where begins
the dilemma and calls to friends in search of new ideas and to discuss mine.
              Materials needed:
              - Screwdriver streak.
              - Rachet, given extension and 10mm and 12mm.
              - Pliers pressure.
              - 2.5 meters of flexible hose 5/16 ".
              - "Y" bronze.
              - Pocket knife or scissors.
              - Brush.
              - Two pressure clamps hose diameter chosen (5/16 "); choose
clamps that allow them to be adjusted with a small wrench or socket.
              - Ten plastic tie wrap.
              - A clip cutting (chopping the tie wrap).
              - Two 5 cm pieces of copper tube 5/16 ".
              - Get on the sales of a small hose parts having at least two
90 ° bends the same diameter as the flexible hose.
              - 1 front transmission Vent Part No. 90930-03136.
After the materials breakdown proceed to explain step by step procedure:
              Step 1 (unarmed upholstery):
It should unscrew two knobs levers, then pull the black to
up carefully as is secured with staples, getting us a plate below it
with 4 metal screws 10mm groove covering the levers. We proceed to take them with
given rachet and 10mm or the screwdriver groove, once we remove the screws removed
this piece with the rubber covering the levers and we see our goal (vents).

                Step 2 (cleaning):
It should be cleaned with a brush waste of land that are above the box and
vents to prevent them from entering the box when unclog vents
Step 3 (withdrawal of cover vents):
Once we located both vents desprenderles cap with the famous
                using a pressure pliers
                Step 4 (reinforced hose):
It will cut the two curves of the hose I asked in materials, these curves
we will draw with the aid of the small copper tubes to two pieces of hose 5/16 "and its
Once a "Y" bronze, the remaining hose we use in the remaining end of the "Y". Them
recommend assembling the hose with the "Y" and curves out for comfort, taking into
clearance and account size needed to do unions in the hoses and the "Y", detailing
                Images 1 and 2.
Step 5 (Union of hoses with vents):
First we have to pull the lever of the box are four 12mm bolts, and loosen the
we get the lever, this with the idea of arming the vent more comfortable as it is located in
a site extremely uncomfortable to work it, joined by a bend in the hose
armed in step 4 to the original vent and adjust the clamp, then proceed to
rearming lever placing the rest of the hose under the car. A
Having done the breather box and armed lever, proceed to join the remaining curve
vent transfer and adjust the clamp and a small wrench or socket, and finally
we ensure that the hoses were tight. See Figures 1 and 2.
Step 6 (up the rest of the hose to the fire wall to the hood level):
The first thing to do is hold the "Y" where possible, I did it in the
upper body levers where they go. There is a metal part directly above the
lever box (of course, leaving the hose with a clearance and without forcing comfortable to
to avoid that exit; observe the images 3 and 4). The rest of the hose holding the climb
with tie wrap for the brake fluid lines (Fig. 5) to the wall of fire, and finally
placed in the hose end of the vent valve equal to our
Trucks bring in the transmission front, we can ask them at dealerships.
Here is some photos for detailing and watch what I explained above:

Oh god job. Sorry for not having translated for you but I not had much time to do that.

That manual is for the transfer case an transmission. You have to extend both!!

Is not so difficult. With a bodylift is much easier to do!

                  Cheers
