Does a 99 Grande have a removable bolt to direct fit a sensor?
Or do i need to buy some sort of hose fitting and fit to the line to the cooler?

I fitted mine into the bottom hose to my cooler, but it needs an earth to make it work

      Thanks for the reply stu.

Can i ask where/what fitting you got?
Was it an inline hose fitting fitted to the inlet side of the cooler?
Not sure what type of fitting i would need.
I did see a youtube video of a dodge ram, where the lower side of the transmission had a bolt removed where the sensor screwed in.
Not sure if Prado's have these.

They already have a trans temp sender... It has a light on the dash for "trans oil temp"
You may be able to tie into that

It must be set to an over temp programmed setting i assume.
Will check it out to see if i can use it for a temp gauge.

Yes. I have a separate aftermarket cooler, made up an inline fitting and T pieced the temp sensor into that. Then I realised I needed an earth doh so I just ran a short wire to the chassis.
I did look at the OEM sensor, it's just next to the trans box. It just sends a signal to your dash light to warn you if the oil gets hot, but I struggled to get a spanner on it! I was going to insert my temp sensor into the existing t piece but became too hard basket.
