  • RZJ95 ECT problem

    Hello

I have recently purchased a 2002 RZJ95 from Japan and have found that the ECT sys is not working. The ECT light comes on on the dash but there is no shift point change.
I had the same transmission in my KZJ previously and had no problems with it. The fuse is okay and I have checked all the electrical connections/plugs I can find but no clues.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks... Keith in British Columbia

There is one ecu for the engine and gearbox, codes can be pulled from the ecu for both the engine and trans side , the overdrive light stays on when there is a problem pull the codes first theres lots of info on how to do that on the internet , most toyotas are the same on how to pull codes

          Hi again

So I checked the codes on the OBD1 by jumping TE1 to E1 and got a flashing OD off light and a steady flashing check engine light which I understand means no codes. (??)

Seems this issue may not be picked up by the OBD sys?

          Any ideas? Thanks Keith
