Toyota's are a pain to sort out which wire does what when it comes to installing a headunit on any model. So I thought I might take the pain out of it for some. 8)
Here is a connection list for a 90 series prado stereo headunit.
There are two plugs: 1 x 10 pin & 1 x 6 pin
On the 10 pin plug:
Red = Battery +
Green/Red stripe = Accessories
Brown = Battery - / ground
Black/Yellow stripe = Remote/power aerial
Pink = LHF speaker
Purple = LHF speaker
Light Green = RHF speaker
Blue = RHF speaker
On the 6 pin plug:
Black = LHR speaker
Yellow = LHR speaker
Red = RHR speaker
White = RHR speaker
Any other wires that are there you should not need for installing most aftermarket stereo's
:idea: A tip is to solder any connections you make so the thing doesn't cut in and out in 100 k's time :?
:idea: Also use insulation tape on each connection to prevent wires from touching and blowing fuses - a real nuicance. :x
Do it once, do it right, then enjoy it!
I hope this helps and good luck
