  • Weird dashboard light problem...

Hi...I have a strange new problem with the red brake light on the dashboard. We have a manual petrol/LPG model and when accelerating in first or second gear, the red handbrake light on the dashboard momentarily lights up when changing up gears (it happens specifically when the clutch is dipped and my foot comes off the accelerator pedal). Only seems to happen with first/second gear. Also, if you accelerate harder than usual the problem seems to go away until the engine is turned off and then off you go and it all starts again. The car has recently been serviced and all fluids etc seem to be OK. Any ideas?

    Cheers,

Try checking the brake fluid level. if it is a little low this can happen.

This happened to me a while ago after going bush and mud. I found that the rear brake pads and hand brake shoes were worn and needed replacing. You could check to see how much meat is left on your rear pads.
