Dash board noisy

Hello All . i recently have bought a prado 90 series grande 217000 on the clock . after driving it for a while i have noticed the dash making a lot of noise especailly driving on patchy road . i have checked the tyre pressure .all ok . i showed it to an electrician he advised the brackets inside may be broken and advised getting a used dash pad from the reckers would not help as Grande has a passenger airbag the used dash may have a faulty airbag ......... and to fit it would almost cost 1500 just for the labour

i went to a different person .he advised open the dash and put some sponge under the it and should be ok

Please advise if anyone has an idea.what can be done to reduce the noise

Hi,

My Prado KZJ95W has just come back from the workshop.The guys plugged in some sponge and fitted extra brackets where needed. The dash does not rattle at all now.

I also replaced my front struts aand repaired the strut mounts too.

Try this from Prado4x4, its mostly aimed at reducing the movement of the dash but may also help with the rattles.

On mine I installed a bracket both sides, and found two loose nuts behind the speedo. The clips appear to be ok, I'm happy with the result.

I made my own brackets, just cut two pieces of galvanised steel into a square and drilled a hole in three of the corners. I started on the passenger side (which took the longest) by removing glove box to access behind the dash and then did drivers side which only took about 20 minutes.

I didnt take any photos, but have attached some from someone elses fix (off LCOOL) to give you an idea of whats involved. Its pretty straight forward and stops any movement of the dash completely. I did mine several years ago and havent had any problems since.
