I had my truck into a local exhaust place to fit my Beaudesert dump pipe, but they said that they could not get one of the stock dump pipe nuts off (the gearbox is in the way). Is this correct? And how do I get the stock dump pipe off without moving the gearbox? Can I take the turbo off with the dump pipe and just bolt it straight back again with the new dump pipe fitted?

I might take it Toyota to fit the new dump pipe and then go back to the exhaust place to make the adaptor for my 2.5" system.95 3.0 Camp Car, 150 V6 Daily Driver

Did mine years ago when I changed the exhaust on my old Prado. I am surprised an exhaust shop had issues with it.
There was a great article on here years ago that covered but I cant find anymore, the link was www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php?t=3040 Maybe someone can find it.
To remove the nut you are talking about, you have to remove the front wheel, remove the rubber shield so you can see the dump pipe, spray heaps of WD40 or similar and let it soak for as long as possible. Use a 1/4" drive ratchet with a short extension and 12mm (from memory) socket and reach around the back of the dump pipe to access it. It was an absolute pain to remove. If you stuff the nut, you are removing the entire turbo and manifold to get at it.
It took me a while to get that nut off, skinning knuckles and swearing is part of the process.
Hope this helps

DWG is right, take your time and they are very tight. make sure of a good socket fit. Did mine years ago also, putting the new one on was easy because buy then you will have worked out what sockets and little short spanners you will need. Good idea to put an extra mount from gear box to engine pipe before flex. may stop dump pipe cracking.

Thanks guys. I have ordered some 6 sided 1/4" shallow drive sockets and some wobble extensions - hopefully I can get it off myself. I have a bad feeling that the exhaust place have rounded the nut though - they mentioned something about it being rounded...95 3.0 Camp Car, 150 V6 Daily Driver

Heat and cool, heat and cool, wd40 and patience. This is one mother of a job. I think there are pics and a write up in my rig build. It took my mate 2 days to remove the last bolt but he got it! ABSOLUTE SHIT OF A JOB is the politest way to describe it. For the record, the nuts are NOT round, they are oblong and basically not designed to come off easily, add rust, seizing and exhaust temperatures of around 500 degrees and you understand why this is a biatch of a job.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!
