    Thanks ratsack

    Any chance you can post a shot of the guard?

    Seems like min is maybe missing the original plastic guard which maybe explains why it's been a problem...

    Maybe I can get a guard from a wreckers or make up a stronger steel one...

      Just got a couple of photos for you. Hopefully this helps us all out?

      This is from the passengers side looking under the car. The "guard" is there on the bottom;

      Let me know if the pictures don't work.

          Maybe it has something to do with mine being a GXL Kimberly? I dunno...

          What I'd do is get one just to use temporarily and then make one out of something stronger and also make it cover a slightly bigger area near that fuel solenoid. I assume with that cover, I should be protected enough to not have to worry about the issue you've had. If I do have it though, I'll report back here and also replace the guard with something bigger and stronger.

              I was under my Prado earlier and noticed it's even longer then I thought. It basically starts where my front bash plate finishes. It's just snapped in 2 pieces so I didn't realise. I want to get a replacement gaurd made out of something stronger but don't have the talent and don't think anyone makes one. :-(

                I had this happen to me sunday night driving on farmland. A bloody stick got caught up in there and ripped the hoses out and snapped off two of the plastic bits..Mechanic in town did a temporary fix to get me back to melbourne. But need a new one now..

                mrkrinkle, Was that the correct part you ended up ordering??

                Thanks

                  The original plastic guard is hopeless, any knock at all and it would be broken. My guess is that the original has been broken off when off road or it may have been when the fuel filter has been changed. Even if you do get the original ensure you build / get built a steel replacement. This post has reminded me that I have to replace mine. Well I can put that in the list of jobs that I have to do. Ken.
