My new Prado has almost 170k and I am taking it to the garage for a service. The previous owner had it serviced every 10k with logs, but it looks to me like the timing belt was 'checked' but has not been replaced. Similarly, it seems there are a few things mentioned elsewhere in the forum (water pumps?) that might be worth replacing to ensure a trouble free future.
Am I better taking preventative action, or let it ride and trust regular servicing will pick up any potential issues?
I don't expect any remote travel in the foreseeable future, and I very rarely go off road at all (although dirt/gravel roads with a trailer are pretty regular). I normally do about 15000km p.a.
I would usually rather spend a little more on maintenance if it decreases the chances of big things breaking. Obviously, I'm no mechanical expert.
I have the auto petrol V6 with LPG.
