Do you keep the roof rack on all the time, as that will make you use more fuel, could also be your driving style, tyre pressure, traffic/weather conditions, time of day, what speed you drive at, ect.
I have managed to get 1300k's out of the two standard tanks on a trip from Brisbane to Sydney and drive around Sydney for a couple of days before filling back up and still had about 20lts left, but even then I might not be able to repeat that on the next trip because traffic/weather conditions, ect could be different.
But having said that you should be getting around 800+k's out of both tanks in worse case senario.
