  • 1997 Prado Rear seat bench "slides" forward.

As the topic says... i saw a 1997 90/95 V6 today. I noticed that the whole rear seat was up against the backs of the two front seats. I opened the rear door and saw it was on rails? But factory rails? This made the packing space much bigger??

Is this a common thing on the 90 series? im in South Africa and im looking at buying a V6- but its the first time i have seen this feature... so what say you....???

    Yes they are on slides
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Your right Nema, I had 97 Grande and the seat slid forward and back, I then had the 01 Grande and due to the rear seats been a split design (series two in 99 as you said) the seats did not slide. I like the fact though that you can still tilt the rear backing of the seat. Makes it better for the baby seat, stops there head dropping forward when there asleep .........Cheers Steve

The rear bench on my previous 2002 95 was reclinable, on rails and could be folded completely. So it slid front to back, you could fold it up on itself or you could fold it out of the way against the front seats.

Now on the 2008 90 I can only fold it, but i dont need rails. I do miss the impressive amount of space the 95 had... With the 90 seats folded I get a bit more space than the trunk of the 95 with the seats in their normal position..

2008 90 series ?? You mean 120 maybe ?? What model was your 02 ?? Gxl rv grande ?? Cause my 01 grande didn't slide only tilted or folded up and over and sat against front seats.... Cheers Steve

Im Venezuelan, we had the 95 series up until 2007 and the 90 until 2009.

It was a VX spec, I dont know how it compares to the ones you had but it was the fully equipped version we had here, that rear bench was pretty awesome. We only had GX & VX

              I wish the 90 had a 50/50 folding bench

My 97 model has the sliding seats, makes a lot of space in the back when the middle seat is folded up behind the front seats.

                  Thanks guys,
was wondering if i was going mad as this is the only one i have seen with sliding seats. I Purchased a 1998 VX Over the weekend, 23/3/2013. I saw it a while ago and cant remember what configuration the seats had! I hope its the sliding one. If it is not, can i fit these brackets? or did the body/ mounting points change?

My guess is the brackets will fit. The body is exactly the same

If you don't have the sliding seats, the brackets will fit, but I'm sure the seat will be different to the ones that use the slides, you may have to get a different rear seat.

The sliding seat is a solid bench while the no sliding is a 50/50 split.

From memory on my 96 model in the owners manual there was a section on sliding the second row and folding down to make up a bed. It was in the manual I had in that Prado
