Foldup Second Row Seat

Have just purchased this 1998 vehicle and this is my first attempt at posting. Hope I doing it right.

I have single (sliding) second row seat and am trying to stow it in the upright position behind front seats. Have followed instructions in owners manual and moved seat to the rear of vehicle and folded seat back down flat.

According to manual, you appear to have to pull two tabs (levers) located beneath seat towards back of vehicle and then simply lift the whole unit up and secure it to the handles at the top of the rear door using appropriate straps.

My problem is the only two tabs I see are fabric tabs which when I pull on them seem to to nothing. I assumed that they should activate some sort of release mechanism which then enables me to lift the unit up.

Can anyone help with correct procedure?

Your doing it right... They might just have dirt or crap stuck in the latch.... Maybe get a friend to sit on the seat while pulling an pushing

Thank you scottkz for the speedy reply confirming the procedure.

Went out, checked for foreign objects etc., tried for ages by myself with no luck. A neighbor pulled up, some more trials and head scratching, then we moved the seat forward a little and pulled hard on a tag each and up she come. Will give moving parts a doze of WD40 just in case and hopefully, we will be right from here.

Yep 16 years of dirt and crap take there toll , a air compressor can work good aswell but need a fair amount of time blowing it out as it dislodges a lot more dirt

Mine also takes a lot to get it to work
