Plan A is slotted rotors and new pads to start. Then see how that performs.

this is what I'm using at the moment. Except I have dba slotted on the front. Living in the mountains I constantly experienced brake fade and just lived with it. Until I came down one hill with a roundabout at the bottom while towing a a car trailer. As I sailed through the roundabout with no hope of stopping I have no clue who left the bigger brown stain. My self or the L Plater who I nearly cleaned up.

        Noble Park..makes sense. Lol

On a flip side, SWMBO headed off for a girls night out this evening and disk head me left my keys in her car. She was long gone and I had to get in. As you guys would know having seen my alarms, remote start and proximity entry. Getting into my car is no easy feat. Well so I thought.

Using a piece of coat hanger wire and a Phillips bit I had successfully unlocked a door. Then using a pair of wire cutters I was able to prevent the alarm from going off as I opened the door.
All in all, Nicholas Cage wouldve been proud as I was gone in 60 seconds. Ok, not quite but I had successfully gained entry without triggering the alarm in about 60-70 seconds without breaking a sweat.

To fix this problem I'm going to put a 200x200 piece of thin steel in the upper right corner of the rear door hatch. Preventing access to the handle and lock mechanism internally.

I've got slotted DBA's all round on mine with average Bendix 4WD pads.
We tow a van a bit & i haven't had brake fade as yet.

            • Drilled into a perfectly good panel.

              Then made it bigger

All to fit this. Might need it now with 400mm on the tracks.

Also, thanks alot to AJ for knocking up a set of these.

These are the bomb. Well built and great finish. Just as good as commercial ones if not better. Thanks heaps Andrew.

                  • I've been looking at my headlights for about 6 months now and how the reflector is no longer shiny and I have really SH!T light output. Even to the point where my HID retrofit hasn't upset anyone in a very long time. Last night I got breatho'd and the cop told me to fix my poor headlights before I get defected... and to perhaps double check I'm using ADR Compliant bulbs when I fix them hehe... Having a shot at the HIDs... cheeky bugger lol

So this evening, I'm pulling the assemblies out and baking the headlights so I can seperate the glass from the front and clean the reflector. Then on reassembly I will be reinstalling some H4 led bulbs. I'll try to remember to take plenty of photos. But I've also been weighing up some alternatives as I really REALLY REALLY like projector headlights for their sharp cutoffs. Would love some input from you guys as to your thoughts...

Here is the Prado. Only difference is now the UHF antenna is back to black (thank god) and there is another pair of spots in front of the radiator.

I could use guys... for $390 and I would either paint the interior to match the vehicles green or potentially the silver trim... Least favourite choice I think

Or perhaps.. for $350. I really dig these as they will match the chrome wing mirros but it might be too much bling

Or.... Use the 95 clear crystal headlight assembly, pull them apart and fit nice big 3" hi/lo projectors into them... Cost somewhere between 200-400 depending on headlight assemblies.

                    Coupled with these bi-xenon projectors

Yes, I'm fully aware that none of these are ADR compliant.

Will post photos of tonights work though and potentially a DIY on how to open the headlights with photos.

                      • RanJ, is it the reflector that is dull or the glass?

You can get head light polish if its just the glass thats dull.

                        • I went with the crystal type as my cars a 96 it used to have the old type (glass) you can't polish them up
I won't say what I think of those ebay projectors.... Lol

                          • It is definetly the reflector that is dull. I have polished and polished and polished a bit too hard in one spot but they are too far gone. Done the best I could which is still an improvement. Just about to argue with it in regards to the high beams not triggering my spots any more and then I'm off for a road test.

                            • I wouldn't have a shot at those MARS ones RanJ. My experience with mine on my 120 is they're just shite. Poor quality and poor fitment. Any of those chrome ones would do but my personal opinion is to make them BLAAAACK. Good luck mate

that's what i was getting at. I have the v6 petrol snorkel on mine and thought it would be interesting. would you do the conversion again? or would you of just bought a turbo desiel 90 series? I know with mine i would have too add too much too a stock 3ltr but love "my" prado and dont think i would be happy just traiding out for another one.
