Last weekend was a full service and new brake rotors/pads all round.
This weekend just gone was new shocks and springs all round(40mm lift) ,new rack end as it had a bit of play.
Only fail was putting a nick in the CV boot and spewing grease everywhere on road trip.
Will do that tonight and be good to go for wheel alignment.
Nice to have a sweet ride again.

Went out to Glasshouse and finally tested the new suspension lift

I went quite slow, checking I wasn't going to destroy the front CV joints, but the prado went well over a fair few larger hollows than in this video by the end of the run.

Today i had a chance to fit in a dual battery tray to relocate the starter battery to make room for a deep cycle in the standard spot.

I went with an Outback Accessories tray (Aus made in WA). Needed abit of work since its made for a N48Z.. I wanted to fit a NS70.

I like this aux tray as it has mounts for and all the parts needed to relocate the charcoal canister.

              Test fit..

Next up is to fit a SBI isolator and wire her up.. Plus get the positive wire extended to reach the battery.

Here is a link to my build up post
                http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ghlight=Cairns

Have done the diff breathers now.
Really happy with how it drives and especially stops now

Not had a lot of time (or cash) to get more done , or the shed space. Have been doing some work on the boat and have a Volvo 280 stern drive apart at the moment !!!!

Got the tool from the states to do the rocker clearances.
Be doing the snorkel next, and overhauling the power aerial at the same time so I can replace the busted mast. Will tar paint under the wings before I box it all up. I ran leave last time and had to get it on the road.

I decided a few weeks ago that we might be keeping the 90 a bit longer yet.
Before our holidays we went for a drive and got the car a bit dirty. Unfortunately i didn't clean it before the holidays and the dirt baked on.
So having heard about clay bars, i got one cause nothing ventured, nothing gained and i wasn't going to keep a dirty car

I practiced on the area behind the spare wheel.... came up ok so i kept going. The picture of the bonnet shows the difference. It even cleaned the windows of the calcium and dried dirt deposits.

Nice work John! She came up a treat. It's so hard when you live on dirt roads hey.
Good to see the 90 is getting some love
                    Cheers Ben.

Cheers mate. I am really happy how she cleaned up and the surface is soooooo smooth now, i should get better economy due to less drag
Tomorrow i will apply a coat of wax because apparently the clay bar takes off any coating of wax... not that there was any coating left anyway.
For the interior i use Aerospace 303, it is sensational stuff.
The July school holidays we are doing the Mereenie Loop, Palm Valley, Kings Canyon, Chambers Pillar and Rainbow Valley and finishing up at Yulara. We are hiring a camper from Alice.
Back in Adelaide in January so we'll catch you then

That's the only problem with white paint, it stains too easerly, but glad you managed to get it out of the paint. One has to wonder how it goes on the newer paints that are pearl whites.

But white hides pin striping the best And i won't let the paint get to a condition like that again

Paint is a funny thing, what makes the paint scratch???????
Objects being able to catch on the surface......
How do you stop it?, have a smooth surface from a good polish
So basically polish the paint before you go off road to stop the scratches..

Well no pin stripes for me now The surface is so smooth the flies can't land on it without sliding off

I used the Mothers clay bar on mine recently and then used Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by Extra Gloss Protection. The end result was unbelievable. I took the car to my mechanic and he commented on it looking brand new and asked what I had done.

The polish is the easiest polish I've ever used and leaves no residue. I did my wife's Civic and the finish was so smooth the bottles kept sliding off the boot, roof and bonnet. Give it a try, I'm sure you'll be impressed.
