  • Looking at a 90

Hopefully this in the right spot. Looking at replacing my current Holden 7 seater wagon with a 90 series prado. Tried searching but haven't really come up with much.

How much room do these have behind the 3rd row seats (have a twin pram I need to fit)? At the moment in the current wagon I have to take the front wheels off and sit the thing up right but it fits OK with room for shopping. Hoping it's the same for the 90 series.

Any 90 owners with the 3rd seat on the Sunshine Coast QLD I could test the pram fitting?

I agree once my 3rd row seats are down there is no room in the boot at all. Cant fit a small sub box behind them .

        Creepy

Hm OK might stick with the commodore. How bizarre you would think they would have equivalent space.

Finally found a picture of the back seats down. Room looks about the same if not a little more then the wagon. Could just leave a seat out for room and put it in when needed. Managed to get my brother in law into prados and he's keen to get one in a couple weeks so might sus it out.

Edit: Wonder if I can convince some one to swap my VZ for one

I can take some measurements for you if you like. Also, if you look at the later models 1999 onwards I think. The rear seats have a release latch so they can be removed altogether unlike the earlier ones which require unbolting.

As for swapping the VZ... you probably could you know, but not here, we're too in love with Toyotas.

              Oh what a feeling!

When it comes to the engines, don't instantly pu pu the 4cyl petrol. It's not a bad unit. While low in kW, it's torque makes for a pretty vehicle.

The diesel is a solid performer and pretty reliable.

The 3.4 V6 is an absolute workhorse. I'm going to get shot for saying this but I think the 5vz-fe V6 we have is probably the most reliable of them all.

Mated up to the auto, it does a respectable job at towing although far exceeded by the diesel. Around town it's keeps up very well with everything but it is thirsty. Very thirsty.

Couldn't be as thirsty as a 5.7 litre V8 I can't help but to put pedal to the metal :P

The 5VZ is a great engine. Over engineered and capable of so much more with some work (see sig ) Even considering all the work, still averaging 13.5-14 L/100kms.

How many kids you got ? Simple to unbolt the third row if not needed. I constructed home made drawers in place of my 3rd row.

5 kids. Usually only 4 in the car at any one time though. I know it's going to hurt if you drain the tanks and need to refill (capacity does that)

If my wife knew just how much petrol the pig sucks down.... well... I could be driving a Prius to make up for all the dolphins I might have hurt.

I just can't see the fuel consumption being much worse then the VZ. I mean I get the weight difference but still.

Time will tell for you then, saying that I've had mine since new and would never get rid of it, but it's thirsty
