    Gidday!!
Well Im a newbie to the Prado scene and to this site so be gentle alright yous mob

I went out and bought a "new to me" 1998 3400 V6 Prado in April this year... and after the dimwitted idiot that did the compete oil change at the dealer cracked the gearbox housing as he overtightened the nut which then meant I had a weeks wait for them to fix the sodding thing... I got one of the son in laws (mechanic) to go over her from top to bottom and once given the all clear promptly bolted to Broome!!

Straight up to Meekatharra Newman Marble Bar and a 2 day stop over at Wallal Station near Sandfire to soak up the sun and warmth spend a while swimming and fishin on the 80 mile beach finally wandered up to Broome town and spent a week muckin about with my younger sis who lives up there before wending my way home again

A WEEK LATER... the youngest 2 (note we have 8 nippers  )... the 13 year old boy and 14 year old girl who were on school hols and scratching themselves as to what they should do for 2 weeks the 3rd the ladeeda 16 year old girl who didnt want to go anywhere refused to do anything without half a dozen of her like you know like cool girlfriends  so she stayed with her mum... and guess what!!??

3 days later we were soaking up the rays in Broome... AGAIN!!! we spent a wonderfull week there and then sadly it was time to get sane again and head home...

12000 clicks in 3 weeks!!

SHEER BLISS tinged with agony of the glutimus maximus!!! oooh wow whoever tells you that the Prado seats are comfy for long trips HAVENT DONE ONE like that!!! :? oooh the pain

After the first trip was done I had to say the Prado was THE BEST drive seating and comfort as well as the vehicles cruising style that Id had the pleasure of driving... after the second I still felt the same it was a great trip!! Just certain parts of my anatomy were NOT HAPPY! ops:

At 51 Ive done some bush camping swags and rougher over the years so this time Id bought a couple of swags for the kids and I and mates I tell you what age sure makes you KNOW whats under a 2in foam mattress... SOOOO... since returning home weve gone and bought a camper trailer and are in the processes of taking its wheels axle and tow bar off and bolting it down onto a 6x4 trailer with some extra reinforcing!! (hey its a pommy camper and made LIGHT so we gotta beef it up  )

As I said earlier this vehicle had NOT been off the road once before I got it the whole thing was pristine inside outside and underneath it ran like an absolute new car... but its now seen a sparkle of the purpose of its creation!! its been covered in the red pindan of the Kimberlies and the mud of the Brunswick Junction back blocks felt the racking sounds of rocks and boulders and the feel of whipping branches... it do likes it!!!

The only things Ive done since I got it is to a) put an ARB bullbar on her (THANK GOD!!) b) put some "roo lights" on her c) take out the rear jump seats and d) get a Uniden 400 UHF cb and arial which need to be fitted but as Im dithering about where to install it its still in its box!!

Ive spent the last few hours reading through some of the posts and gaining some info

Just thought Id introduce meself 8) ... once I figure how to post pics in a post I will REALLY introduce meself the Prado and some pics of Broome and the trip... eerr trips that is

    Cheers all
    Shane

    Hi Shane

You sound like a little kid at Christmas time ..... and you've only opened the first couple of pressies.

Just wait until you have to split your nights between browsing Pradopoint checking out the next mod .... and sneaking out to the shed and fitting that new gadget you just bought off eBay

Its addictive ..... but it sure is fun

    Cheers

GOOD LORD!! You mean I have to start browsing ebay again???

mmmmm could be some interesting things I MIGHT need eh! will have to take a wander

      Cheers!
      Shane

PS... it was a present for meself for two reasons... first the old 1978 F100 was while a great truck for going anywhere and getting back without a hitch it was getting a bit EXPENSIVE for long trips  and second after the missus left I JUST NEEDED to feel special so a bit of retail therapy was needed!! and a 15K bit of therapy was the starting place thats sorta blown out a fair bit since but hey! IM BREATHIN AGAIN!!... So its all good 8)

Good lord Joey!! I just read your signature!! Strewth I got some catchin up to do!!

Well I got the cooper STTs the bull bar the "roo light" spots tossed the idea of the sheepskin seatcovers and went for canvas ones (smart idea!!) got but havent installed the UHF yet went and got a better arial than the shoddy thing the bloke supplied yesty along with snatch straps winch big sucker jack one of them blowup jacks and a compressor... working on making a sand anchor then the overhead console and tryin to wrangle the $$ for the snorkle and considering a roof rack and also considering upping the suspension to Old Man Emus... okay what have I missed???... ooh right the sliding thing for the back!! Nope Im going to make that but still need to source a good engle fridge and a small one for the incar drinks and cold snacks... eskys Ive found tend to leak

I found an old set of heavy duty semi spots out in the shed tucked in an old broken esky I must have stuck away years ago so will hunt up some good globes and whack one of them on the spare attachment point on the bull bar and that should give me at least a kilometer of night vision... and burn the eyesockets of any mongrel that doesnt dip theirs!! gawd I hate that  which reminds me I must get a dual battery setup

Yep just like a kid in a lolly shop I am or a drunk let loose in a brewery 8)

          Cheers!

                    Like this?

                    And this?

And this???... bloody dopey eared wombat at Southwest Car Care in Bunbury wouldnt have a blasted clue!! first he reckoned the uniden didnt work and was a dud... hadnt PRESSED the go button had he? duhhh... then he slotted the unit down so low Id have to become a gnome to read or reach it!! EVEN after I told the buggar SPECIFICALLY to fit it into the slot below the radio!! Wakker!

What I see from the drivers seat

While I know its got the scan feature THAT is not the point is it!... Its too low and takes your eyes from the road and track for far too long so I now have to take it out and move it upwards to where its not going to cause me dramas!

BUT HEY!! See my new ubeaut 4x4??? What a beauty!! 8)

Great to see Shane .... a really nice looking unit. Awesome colour too.

.... and we're down your way often enough for you to join in ... meet some fellow Prado owners ... and have a great family day out.

                      Cheers
