Gday Pedro, I just went through the same process when I purchased my first Prado 3 weeks ago. I wanted a diesel, but came to realise that the value for money was in the petrol prados as there werent many of the diesels around and commanded high prices for this reason. I ended up with a 98 VX Grande for $13500 with 190,000k's on it. Looks like new, runs like new...upgraded from an xtrail and for the same money I got for my xtrail it seems like a whole lot more car! Very happy and havent quite gone through a tank yet to work out my economy, but having said that, i think ive done more k's on the sand than on the road so far so economy wont be the best....but who cares! I bought it as a comfortable but capable weekend 4wd for beach and camping trips towing my boat. I dont drive it through the week so decided the economy savings of a diesel were not going to matter in my case and the servicing costs and parts would outweigh the savings over the years. Glad you like your new Prado as well.
ps..first post for me, great resource you guys have built here at pradopoint, well done!!
