I reakon you should start a thread in the 'My Rig Build Up" section and post heaps of photos and descriptions so we can check out your rig as a whole!!!
You've good some good ideas and others on here may want to follow in your foot-steps in regard to the mods you have...

At the moment, we're only getting bits a pieces from your various threads, one thread with everything would be great!

Remember, lots of photos!

I can totally understand why the cops said WTF 50 times. I have just finished reading this thread and am still thinking WTF! :shock: You're lucky the cops saw it instead of some random thief. Then again, instead of smashing your windows and cutting cables they'd probably be too busy WTFing at it :!: :lol:

Is that a turning assist knob on your wheel??? Unless the driver of the vehicle has an imparment and authorised to use it that too is illegal.

yes mate, that is it.

however, now, I am very confusing about cops' knowledge in real life in comparing with residents. Cops stopped me 3 times with my rig, but they never ask me to remove that assist knob.

I don't have any difficulty in working with any manual or auto car, but I found that this knob is a really good invention to help me drive the car more enjoyable, especially when I go around a boundary. :mrgreen:

Not all the boys (and girls) in blue (or kar-key) know all the rules of what is and is not within the rules/ADR's.
Some of them know some stuff, others know other stuff.

The big thing is they don't actually need to know to give you a defect notice as they can suspect it is not conforming to the rules and direct you to an inspection station where someone that is supposed to know the ins and outs of the rules will inspect your car. You may have to pay a fee and incur some wasted time to get the yellow sticker removed.

Saying to the next copper that the last copper said it was OK or in your case didn't say that is wasn't OK is not a defense and in most cases won't help.

It's best to do some research and find out what the rules are in regards to mods you want to do and then apply the mods within the rules.
The other way is to engage an engineer and then hope that the rego/inspection place will approve them.
Then it's about insurance and all that stuff, both CTP and property insurance.

Do it properly within the confines of the rules and all will be well, do it otherwise and one day you are bound to be caught up with by someone.

I know you've since removed the DVD player from the dash now but wasn't it blocking the air bag cover as well?

one more thing, as far as i know, if we install steel bull-bar, it will affect the airbags' performance

If you don't have an airbag, how can a bullbar installation affect it?

If you do have airbags, then I have lots of proof that the bash plate running from the ARB bars to the bottom of the radiator does NOT affect air bags. The plate is designed to bend like bloody putty!!! As a quick reference look at Matty's build up page :roll:

Seriously, someone should post how to install an airbag overide switch, I don't want the bloody things activating when I'm driving slowly (or fast up a Robe sandhill and scooping up half a tonne of sand) over rocky terrain.

Not sure why you mention this but it's OK if you have an airbag compatible model; the steel ARB one I have is such a beast.
