265 70 R16 partnered with 275 70 R16

Just wondering if I can run these two tyres together. I got a set of the 265's and found the 275 around the corner on bin day so I was hoping to have it as my spare tyre.

Compared them on a tyre calculator website but not sure if it is in an acceptable range.

Did some research but finding conflicting answers.

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

The difference is 14mm in diameter theoretically. On the actual tyre, it could be smaller or bigger.

The 275 would be good for an emergency spare to get you to a place where you could get the 265 repaired or replaced. However if used constantly, then the diff would be operating and may cause extra wear.

Yeah it would only be used as in an emergency. The difference was 1.3 or 1.9% at 100kmh its almost 2kmh difference.

I can't see how it would be any different from driving a winding road as the outside wheel would rotate further than the inside wheel.

Also,will 265 70 r16 tyres fit on my prado without rubbing ? Lol

If you are on a highway run, the small difference is there.

It's fine as a spare, though it's probably best to fit to the front axles, rather then the rear which has an LSD.

Also, 14mm is not far off what you may find on peoples cars already when they have some tyres worn more than others. For example, being slack with tyre rotations can result in 5mm tread variances between tyres of same size, which is 10mm in total diameter.
