  • Any experiences with Mickey Thompson FCII's

I have canvassed the major brands on the market for my 2002 TD prado and am "leaning" towards the FCII from Mickey Thompson. 265/75 x 16.

Has anyone in the forum had any experience with these tyres yet?

You probably read this from Ron Moon. He says it all.

Not directly hux, but when I was looking for new shoes for my Prado a mate of mine recommended the FCII's after putting them onto his 80 series. They have performed nicely every time we've been out and about... sand, dirt, slippery rock ledge at LCMP. At home I think I still have a vid he sent me of him in a mud puddle compared to a mate with AT's in the same mud puddle.

I went the Cooper ST's for two reasons...
They were in-stock on the day (that's how close the decision was )
...and, The ST's looked a little more 'directional' as a daily driver on the black stuff.

My son put them on his Ford courier 4wd
They have done about 10000klm with good results
If you like them I would have no hesitation in buying then
General characteristics I have seen , good sidewall strength, hold good shape at low pressure, no chipping or scuffing thus far, even wear and very minimal loss of tread depth in the first 10k klm

          Mickey Thompson FCII's

Thanks guys for the immediate advice. As I said I have been researching for a while and have settled pretty much on these. After the feedback I am still of the same mind....

          I appreciate your interest.

I will post again after I get them and put a few country miles (kilometers) under them....

Don't know how to embed a video but here's that vid I mentioned... can't find the one of his mate on AT's.

Midland WA Opposite Lock dealership say that the FC-II is being discontinued, and that the 4 rib at more or less identical price is a safer bet if needing a replacement down the track. Food for thought. I've narrowed my search down to the Mickey 4 rib, BFG and GY Wrangler Duratrac

I've had two colleagues with them and both have gone to MT 4 ribs as they weren't happy with them.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

My Prado had the Mickey Thompson Dick Cepek FC-II's fitted when I bought it secondhand in Dec 2008. They were not brand new at that stage, and I have since done 40,000 km on them, with probably another 15,000 km (or more) of tread remaining. Have been really happy with the wear and grip so far. Haven't done any serious off-road tracks with it, but on the odd bit of sand, gravel, etc. I was happy with the level of grip and performance. If I had the money to blow I wouldn't mind another set, but considering the price, I'd probably go for the Bridgestone D694's as they're a lot cheaper.
