I'm pretty sure that's the first case of 255/85R16's on a Prado that I've heard of. It's the size I was next aiming for but thought more lift was required. Don't they rub on the front mud flaps?

they only rub under load, ie when the truck is at full articulation at the front. the reason he went that way over the 265/75/16 is that for a 10mm drop in width you gain an inch in height. also fills the whell arch a little nicer. he did think about moving the casters forward by a few mill but once hes done 5k on the tyres the rubbing wont be an issue he reacons. he builds winch challange trucks so he has plenty of experience with things like that. on the road there is no rubbing of the guards.

Hi guys - am new to the forum and am wondering what other standard rims fit the 90 series. I have read that the 80 series rims do, but are there any others? Also, has anyone taken the standard GXL steel wheels and painted them black? Was wondering what they look like. thanks

G'day guys. New to prado point. Great site. I just bought a 2000 RV Prado which I really like and was looking at fitting larger tyres. It currently has a 2" EFS suspension. From reading this thread I can see that 265/75r16 tyres will easily fit, but what I want to know is what is the largest tyre size I can legally fit? I live in QLD. Any info would be great appreciated. Cheers. Lawrence.

I've just ordered some 235/85r16 maxxis bighorns, to replace my worn 265/75r16 bfg MT. From what I've been reading you can gain a couple of L/100km when going skinny.

I beleive GU patrol rims also fit, a member on had on them on his 90 series. I think there similar sizing/offset to 80 series.

Andy, im interested as well as to what you think of the new tyres. Dont think ive seen anyone with that size yet on a 90

                      Hi Brooksy,
I've just had my steel rims powdercoated black and they come up pretty good. They're fitted with 270x75 on 16" rims with BF Goodrich muddies and I'm rapt with the ride and fit.

                      Cheers

no probs tfprdo... thank benwalden... they seem like an interesting choice - a fair few people run them on landrovers etc... i like the height difference u get... anyone see any disadvantages with the narrower tyre?
