  • Heading off for the 2009 GTG

Thought I'd create this thread so that everyone can let others know as they hit the road on their way to the PP GTG in the Red Centre.

After months of preparation and planning, we will finally depart Darwin early tomorrow morning on our way down to Alice Springs. We'll see how far we get before pulling up for the night somewhere along the Stuart Highway. Our kids can't wait (neither can we). Then a shorter drive tomorrow in to Alice Springs for a couple of nights before we set off to travel the Oodnadatta Track on our way down to the Flinders Ranges.

We won't get back to Alice Springs until the 4th July - on our way to Ross River Homestead for the first day of the PP GTG.

Will post a pic of the rig all ready to go later this arvo or tomorrow. Keep an eye out for us somewhere along the roads. Unfortunately, we don't have a UHF so no car-to-car communications while traveling along the roads. Will nonetheless be keeping an eye out for any Pradopoint.com stickers.

Looking forward to meeting you all over a campfire and beer. 8) 8)

I am pretty sure this is a requirement for GTG . Just make sure you get one before getting back to the Alice.
Even 0.5W handleld UHF should do the job for car to car comms...

David you could always pick up a cheap UHF from Tandy or Dick Smith to use for the GTG. Safe traveling and look forward to meeting you.

Hopefully this is the correct place to post this.

To everyone off to the GTG have a fabulous time and enjoy the experience.

I am sad that we won't be able to particpate but had another holiday planned and paid for OS.

            Good luck to all.

              To all the attendees,

I am guessing that many of you are either on the road or about to get on the road in the next few days. I would just like to wish you all safe trips to get here and look forward to meeting you all at Ross River on the 4th of July.

I will email a contact phone number for myself to all attendees in case you have difficulties on the way here.

              Cheers

                Howdy fellas,

We hit the road a couple of days ago from Sydney and have traveled up to the Gold Coast so far. We will be heading out towards Mt Isa soon and then down to meet you all on the 4th. We are pulling our palace behind us - and you thought Mav's new Coromal was overkill !!! Please don't segregate us both from the campers.

Damn it! I had hoped to upload some pics of our Prado and Camper Trailer along the Stuart Highway - but just realised that I've forgotten the bloody cord needed to connect the camera to the laptop ops:

Fortunately, we're in Alice Springs now... so looks like a trip to Dick Smith tomorrow to get what we need. Then I can add some photos to comply with the rules of the thread (which I created ops: ).

Keep the pics coming everyone as you head off. Not long now... I can almost smell it!
