We have just returned from our first GTG and I think it stands for Great Time Guaranteed.
I like it!
Thanks everyone for the photos - some great shots of some well spec'd and look after Prados, although one of Samo's pics seems a little 'over exposed'.
Also some excellent shots for use in possible PPoint banners???
Keep 'em coming... almost makes up for not being there. 8)

Some great photo's and stories guys! Very Jealous. I drove up to Brisbane and back last week and I was getting whiplash trying to look at the 100's of prado's on the road to see any PP's.
We had a fantastic time with a great bunch of people in group two! This was our first trip with fellow PPers and it certainly won't be our last!
I have a heap of fantastic photos which I will post as soon as I figure out how as it keeps failing no matter what I try!
I was part of Group 3. Each group visited the same destination, but on on different days. Our itinerary was:
Chichester Dam, Mount Allyn, Quarry, Ladies Well[/*:m:xlt0hxz3]
Barrington Tops[/*:m:xlt0hxz3]
Stockton Beach[/*:m:xlt0hxz3]
Chichester Dam, Mount Allyn, Quarry, Ladies Well
Our first day took us to Mount Allyn, lead by Joel. This was an easy forest drive. The cloud cover was substantial and the temperatures on the very chilly side.
On the way to Mount Allyn we popped into Chichester Dam, which provides plentiful water supply to Newcastle and the Hunter region. I guess for those who enjoy Wines from the Hunter Valley Region have all enjoyed a little of the Chichester .
We pressed on through an enjoyable forest drive to reach Mount Allyn, where we also had a bite for lunch. The obligatory line-up at the top of Mount Allyn:
Many of the views were blocked by tree cover, though there was this awesome view which seemed to offer stepping stones across the valley.
Heading back down the Mountain, Joel took us into a small quarry, which provided a little playpen, with a steep climb and nice bush-track.
For me the jewel in the crown for this day out was Ladie's Well. A spectacular water hole, with plunge pool and cascading waters. The water was cold and crystal clear.
Some kids did not mind the cold water and launched themselves from the rocky outcrop:
I've seen some impressive entrances to homes, but this one takes the cake... a small version of the Golden Gate bridge...
Finally, airing up next to a farm with plenty of curious cows helped to keep the kids (and some adults) entertained:
Barrington Tops
Yota lead our group to the legendary Barrington Tops. The continual drizzle was welcome as we headed toward the muddy Barrington Tops. A convenient stop for morning tea, was the first line-up.
The drizzle kept the dust down and pushed the fog onto the mountain tops
There was some simply stunning Australian Bush driving:
A curious structure aptly named The Rock. There was a prize for first to guess what it looked like...
Soon we squeezed the mud between our tyres and slipped our way through a fun little track.
A couple of very muddy sections:
The Mickey T's loved it :
The drizzle could not be stopped for our lunchbreak, but the Foxwings kept us dry:
Another scenic view over the Hunter Valley; Simply stunning! This was at the Upper Hunter Shire. At the bottom of the hill is a little pub that was highly recomended by all: The Moonan Flat Pub. There's a drink at that pub with my name on it... some years from now.
Then there is this private little area, which had the feeling of a deep forest... half expecting little red riding hood to skip by:
Everything about this region is spectacular. We had to suffer through our final air-up with this as our backdrop:
Stockton Beach
Our final day of fun was ripping up the dunes of Stockton Beach with Samo as our capable and entertaining tour leader. Interesting fact... all the D4D powerhouses with grunt to spare casually climbed the dunes to stake their claim as the champion engine . The V6 petrols came in 2nd place .
After paying our AU$10 for 3-days beach driving (we only needed one day) we were soon airing down to 15psi and on the well-packed sand. With all the rain, it was easy driving. Once again, the line-up to get us started:
The D4D's were eager for the V6's to reverse out of the way :
It was a gray-old day:
Tin City provided an interesting break in the undulating dunes:
Our lunch break was interrupted when someone noticed an 80-series in trouble. If you ever needed yet another reason why you should never drive across the face of a dune, then here's another one:
To provide some extra anchorage for the winching vehicle, another was strapped to it.
From this position, the vehicle may easily have reached a roll-over point. This fellow had no recovery gear!
With Matt H. and Samo on the job, they competently and safely winched his rear-end up the hill, so he could then easily drive down the dune. The recovery went smoothly... though there was one tiny reminder of why you should wear gloves when handling winch cable
The winch recovery required a snatch block to double the pulling force. It was estimated the winch was straining under around 9 tonne of force!!

LFaR.
Fantastic Pics Mike and Matt. I will be putting some more pics up very soon.
Q. By the way, who is showing us "the finger"
Thats picture is just another good reason why I went with the Dyeema winch rope instead of steel winch rope. Steel wire poking into your fingers doesn't tickle.

After Official GTG BBQ Party some people left for home as they had to be at work the next day.
As all the organizers had left it was up to us to organize the GTG campfire. So we invited everyone to our campfire for the
night and left for Restaraunt for the last nights dinner . By the time we got back from dinner the fire was trully glowing
with everyone having a frendly chat around the fire.
All that had left to do was to oganise kids to some murshmellows, firesparks, glowsticks and to enjoy the fire!
The fire has been burning well into the morning...
