Hi Hutch

The funny thing is that we haven't taken chainsaws on any of the other Recces, maybe this is an omen that the 4WDriving gods are looking after us for the 2011 GTG. We found some great tracks, probably won't use them for the GTG as they are very slow and rough, also spent 2 hours gardening for the National Parks on some lantana so we can use the track comfortably.

We drove around for two days in the bush and only saw two other cars on the tracks, and one of those was Goldie from PradoPoint! Stewy maintained forward momentum at all times and gave us several demonstrations of his new lantana limitation device, not without some thrills though, Stewy will tell you about that .

It was cold though at one point we had 10 degrees at 11.30 in the morning in full sun (he picture of my 150 from the rear in the in the mud), plenty of wildlife visitors at Charlie Moreland including a possum that came into my tent to help LFAR and I do the cooking.

Obviusly you had lent Matt that short leash as it was very difficult to lead him down side tracks, but as usual I got my way a couple of times, including a short night run.

That's one of the jobs I'll be doing this weekend Stewy.
Finish wiring up my ARB compressor, mounting the recovery points, mounting the hi lift jack holder, fitting the awning. All whilst I'm supposed to be painting the outside of the house (at least whilst SWMBO is watching)
I know which gives me more pleasure!

Should be great to catch up again with you Dobbo. We've put so much information out this year with Pics, Video's, Facebook, Maps, Website, Emails, Forum Updates.
I don't believe I've ever done so much camping in one year with all the Trip Reccy's we've run. But it's all been great fun.
Bring on the 2011GTG,.....we're gonna have a ball.

Well the cars all been serviced and wheel alignment done.
Even picked up a new coleman cooker the other day, which LFaR was more than happy to break in for me last weekend

Hats off to you guys, you've done a fantastic job in organising this years event. The recces alone must have cost Richo a fortune in red wine
Interestingly enough, the number of participants has been roughly the same for the last 3 years, 30 or so cars, which I think has been a comfortable sort of number.

I'm glad you noticed, after the pressure of being the only SE Qld Prado without a snorkel it had to be done . Folks, the guys at TJM Underwood (thanks Piggy and Craig) did a great job, found and rectified a few small issues at no cost and then gave me a PradoPoint discount, so if your looking for stuff in SEQ call the boys at Coopers Plains/Underwood/Nerang mention PradoPoint and get a discount on top of the great service.

Finished work at 0727 this morning for 5 weeks. Cars packed & we're out of here at about 0500 Sat.
A few days in Gympie, then a few days camping at Inskip, back to Gympie then it's off to the GTG.
Can't wait!
Thanks guys for the huge effort that you have put into the planning for the GTG.

Prado is loaded, trailer is hooked up and packed and we are heading off in the morning as well. Unfortunately not to the GTG just yet, 500kms of bitumen this weekend and camping with 20,000 other people, I am over it already. Glad I have the GTG to look forward to in a couple of weeks.

The red wine and fuel have been a pleasant expense when you look at the fantastic time the committee has had preparing for the 2011 GTG. The tracks we have discovered, small towns visited, friendships enhanced has given me a renewed belief in 4WD organisations. I trust that the 2011 GTG event provides the attendees with the same result we have received in the preparation.

PS: The TJM winch has had many claiments so far, I actually put first dibs in. We will be running an interesting way for distribution of the major sponsors donations at the end of the event.
