Great trip had by the McBAIN family, thanks to the committee for organising such a fantastic event. Had 2 hours under the car yesterday with a hose trying to get rid of some of the sand, took the car in to the guys that installed the exhaust today to get them to check out the rattle and the poor bugger still copped a face full of sand and dust when it was up on ramps!
My cheap ebay roof rails finally gave way on the way home, too much bouncing around on the tracks so they've been removed and my car looks nude! Off to give some money back to the TJM guys at Nerang to give something back to the sponsors and get some sturdier ones!
Other than that no damage to report except accidently triggering off my fire extinguisher in the back of the car when i loaded things up too tightly! now that's a painful process to clean up but good excuse to pull out the draws, kids seats and give it a solid vacuum!
Thanks again team, look forward to the debrief recce runs!
is it wrong that I LMAO at your expense . Too funny! Glad to hear it got all cleaned up and no damage.
Yep, bring on the debrief.
LFaR.
It seems to be bringing amusement to a number of people as they find out and wonder why my umbrella and outdoor boots still look like they've been in the snow!
those things go off like a nuclear bomb, there's was a mushroom cloud billowing out the doors from the tiniest of triggers!
I'm scouring ebay now looking for a trailer or some other options for carrying all the gear offroad next time, we're already planning a 4-5 night stay down in Byron later in November and folding seats down won't be an option this time.
Well said LFaR...
The Snaga clan had a great time... a little testing at times with a determined 2.5 year old Pretty dresses and mud, dirt, sand, vegemite and rain don't really mix, or should I say mix into one heck of a mess!!
Sadly I did have a couple of issues during the trip...
First the brand new steering rack I had installed a couple of weeks ago rattled a nut loose and it dumped the power steering fluid in a big puddle under the car. Thanks to Andrew (AJ120) for fixing that as quickly as it happened.
Second... coming down Mt Buggery from LCMP to Noosa must have been too much for the wiring in the trailer harness as it has completely fried its self and was lucky not to catch fire. Thanks go out to Sam (Spamwell and his Dad) for helping out on this occasion.
BUT... all that was forgotten when....
I WON THE TJM OX 9500lb WINCH!!!!!!! Wooohooooo!!!!!!!!

I read that that stuff is corrosive and can write off vehicles.
I have something like this to store stuff out of the car and not on the roof. http://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Hitc...t_Carrier.aspx
Doesn't reduce fuel economy but does affect departure angles. Can only carry light stuff though.
Glasshouse Mtns line up at Woodford (outside the bakery of course)
Some articulation happening... not as much as LCMP though
Morning tea time... what was that about dresses and red dirt!
