Don't let water get in your way. The Tasmanian crew has not let it get in the way, we have just decided to use a bit of a boat to transport the vehicle over the wet patch.

If Hans Tholstrop could do it (drive a car across Bass Strait) 30 odd years ago then surely somebody could attempt it in a Prado?Dave

Seen that one a few times, Kudos for not pannicking and getting out, but stupid for going in in the first place. Apparantly it stopped running a few minutes after the crossing and needed major $$ to get it fixed.

Hey Matt,
Been thinking about some options since our chat the other week and thought I'd throw this out for debate.
Sat 22nd - Thargomindah
Sun 23rd - Innaminka. With Coongie Lakes off the menu, there's not much else around Inna other than the Bourke & Wills tourist things.
Mon 24th - Back track to Nappa Merrie and the Dig Tree, then head down to Cameron Corner via Epsilon and Omnicom stations.
Tue 25th Cameron Corner to Arkaroola via Merty Merty and the Strez track, lunch, wee break at Montecollina Bore .
Wed 26th - Explore Arkaroola
Thurs 27th - Head over to Leigh Creek to check out the Super Pit and Copley Dam, then down highway to Parachilna (pub lunch)
then east through the gorges to Blinman and Wilpena.
Fri 28th - Head down to Orrooroo for fuel and restock before heading to Bendleby.
Just my thoughts, how does this sit with the others joining the SEQ crew?

Hi Dobbo
I've done most of that trip, in those time frames you will be doing a fair bit of drive time, but it is a good itinery to see a lot of the area, if anything skip Wilpena and spend more time at Arkaroola, the gorge drives are really nice as well (Parachilna, Brachina and Glass).
Wont see ya on those tracks Richo.Former Party Leader, Now SDO SEQLD GTG 2015 PFA (Pradopoint Fairy Advisor)

I've been to Innaminka before but happy to go there again as I'm bringing a mate who has never experienced the true outback, so this will all be new to him (besides, it might make him want to trade the family Camry for a Prado)2014 Black GXL D4D Auto with a few add ons.

We spent a couple of days in the Flinders in 2007 but didn't get any further north than Skytrek or west of Brachina Gorge so I'm keen to see a bit more of it, but once again it depends on what others want to do.
I'd bypass Wilpena Pound as well but at the end of the day we don't HAVE to be anywhere but at Bendleby on the Friday afternoon.
Shame you can't make it mate, who else am I gonna take the piss out of2014 Black GXL D4D Auto with a few add ons.

Hey Dobbo,
Now that sounds pretty good. Having not been there before, I'm glad for your input.
Do you know rough travel time between some of those camps.
I haven't mentioned it yet, but I am packing my running shoes, and I need a bit of time for a run around the outback. Take that as an invitation to pack your runners guys!

Matt,
I couldn't tell you the time frame to travel from Thargo to Cameron Corner via Noccundra and Warri Gate, maybe Trev could fill us in on that one.
From memory it was a good 8hr day to drive from the Corner down to Lyndhurst, and although our drive to Arkaroola is marginally shorter, it would still be a fair drive even at 100kph on the Strez.
Depending on where we camp at Arkaroola it's only about 130k over to Leigh Creek, and 71 down to Parachilna.
From there it's only 32k to Blinman and another 60 down to Wilpena, so as you can see, the distances within the Flinders aren't that great, the roads were well maintained and there are plenty of campsites through there to choose.
I reckon it would only be 2hrs max to Orroroo but you may not even need to go that far south as Hawker has fuel and supplies and we could probably head over to Bendleby from there. Some input here from the SA guys would help confirm this?
As for packing the running shoes, when we were heading to the GTG in 2009, Jane would take off down the track while I loaded up the car and I would pick her up on the way, but it was amazing how far she could get in the time we took to pack up. I'm sure other travellers out there were wondering what the bloody hell is this woman doing jogging way out here!
If you want to go for a run I'm happy to drive your car as I'll have a spare driverLast edited by Dobbo; 10-08-2012, 10:42 PM.2014 Black GXL D4D Auto with a few add ons.

There's not much going on in Thargo, so I wouldn't plan to stop there as a destination. If you had the time and appetite for a longer day in the saddle you could push onto Noccundra. It would be a long day though as I expect there will be a bit of first night frenzy at the 'Gully and heads might be a bit sore.
There should be fuel at both Noccundra Pub and CC but as always it pays to ring ahead and confirm.Last edited by Trevc; 10-08-2012, 10:48 PM.Check out our around Aus adventure on FB at: Cummings and
