It would be great to have someone from the South Island come and join us. Given that planning and running the GTG next year is going to use up all our "travel time" Trish and I are seriously considering going back to Tassie next chrissy for a few weeks, we loved it so much the first time. So many great places to visit in this country and so few holidays to get to them all, can't let an opportunity pass us by.

    Cheers Andrew

With all the excitement of next year I can't wait to see the sticker??

I plan to spend the week ahead with the SLD/TLD/Navy, scouting the Qld Crew's south west diversion strategy. "Oops did I say that out loud again". Have a great chrissy fellas . Hope Santa fills your stockings with all the 4wdrive gear and accessories you'll ever need.

        cheers

I hope the dates have been set in concrete as we are about to book on the Spirit of Tasmania to come to the GTG. Really can not believe this has come about so quickly and that we are booking.
We will be leaving on Friday 5th to be back on the boat on the 6th to have the kids back at school on the Monday.

The dates are solid, Bendleby Ranges for the start of the trip has been booked so no changing that, we should be confirming accomadion and end point of the trip in a month or so. Are you sailing on the night of the 6th or the morning of the 6th? For a night sailing on the 6th I imagine you could leave Saturday morning and still make it comfortably.

Look forward to seeing the first Tassis rep at the GTG.

            Cheers Andrew

Hi Richo, planning is pretty quiet at the moment while we are in the silly season.

Ian (Iantz) has been working on the website and last I saw that was coming along nicely, The "Outback" part is locked in, we will be doing a recce for the "ocean" part late January, and checking out some of the options for transit at the same time.

Dodgy Dave (Sapradogxl) has made some initial enquiries re sponsorship, still early days though.

Hopefully in a month or 2 we should be ready to start taking bookings for those wanting to come.

MLC is currently doing a recce across the Nullabour, just in case we decide to extend the trip and take in a bit of WA

Wooley has just done a Recce to Fraser Island, will be interested to hear from him whether we can fit that into the schedule seeing as you guys weren't able to

For some reason I am at home plastering and painting, might have to do a recce on the weekend just to "rule out" some tracks

                Cheers Andrew

                          • Bring it on, can't wait for it myself. Looking forward to seeing a few new faces thats for sure.

As for adding peoples name to the list, we haven't worked out the finer details yet but it will involve more than putting your name down to be officially on the list............ yep people are gunna have to part with some hard earned to get on the list.

Still working on the costs involved so we are not sure on the dollar amount, it won't be an extravagent amount but should be enough to make sure people are serious when they "put their name down"

                            Cheers Andrew

                              • Have now booked and paid for the Spirit Of Tasmania boat so that now offically means we are coming. We just did a four day trial run with camper in tow and now we are all excited to be heading to the mainland to join up with so many interesting people.
It is going to take us three weeks to get to the GTG as we are going via the Flinders Ranges and other places.
