Oky guys, im a shocker for typing in riddles???? it was clear to me.... :-)
are you saying that Prado factory recovery points are no good?
I understand tie down points are not for recoverys
It was my understanding that factory recovery point on a 120 Prado are ok.....
The Towball part was trying to keep the joke going........
Is the committee going to do a vehicle inspection of each vehicle to ensure that we do have all the equipment that is required as per the minimum vehicle requirement checklist?
PS. this is my 500th post, yeah!

First - factory tie down points (small loops either side of bottom of radiator) are not sufficient for recovery. If you have them and get bogged down in either the mud or deep sand that we will pass through, I don't believe the committee will allow any snatching using thse Toyota loops. We will however stand by and watch you dig fruitlessly. For $100, go buy some after Market recovery points. Most people would spend more than that amount on booze around the GTG camp fire. So do the right thing.
VK - no idea. Would you like us to check vehicles and give little smiley face stickers to those who comply?
Why force people to buy them when they can put a bridle through the lower control arms on front suspension.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

While I believe your alternative recovery point is an option, everyone attending now has an opportunity to fit recovery points before the GTG in a few months. Surely having them would make it easier to set up the recovery than not having them.

Everyone also agreed to have recovery points fitted before the gtg too.
Which means if you don't have them, I'm sorry, but you're going to be on your own.

For those with an ARB bar, front external recovery points are not an option ( eg outback ideas etc as they just dont fit with an ARB bar on a 120) but that being said I see sanity has prevailed and a bridle strap across the ARB bar tow points ( not the tie down loops but the ones connected to the ARB bar ) has been accepted.
Cheers

While I am not convinced of the total inadequacy of the Toyota tow points, the committee set requirements for the GTG and I agreed to comply. I have now fitted "suitable recovery points". A small extra cost for attending the GTG.
Is there a procedure for updating our vehicle compliance?
