It will work at Mansfield.
It will work in and out the first day or 2 depending which way you go.
It won't work the duration at Talbotville.
Telstra works some spots in Talbotville & surroundings a bit too.

Out of curiosity, what phone were you using? I have an Iphone5, but I don't believe it can be hooked up directly to an external antenna. I think you can get an antenna/booster cradle though. So I'd be interested in what aerial/phone/cradle you're using?

Hey Ian.
I am using an iphone 4. The 4s get better reception than the 5s but I have mine in one of these.
http://www.prestigecom.net.au/Carcom...Apple-iPhone-4
This is only an example I did not purchase mine here and I also go a suction cup mount with it and its not hardwired but plug in aux plug. It means I can move it between my work car and personal car with easy.
I was skeptical before i bought it but it does work albeit only a little bit. If you can get 1 bar normally you could get 2-3 bars. If you get none normally you MAY get one. It was good in Central Australia. When I got within 50km of the next town I would normally hear the message sound go off.
I can take a photo if you want.
Cheers

So how is everyone's travel plans going to get to the GTG? The Tasmanian convoy will be staying in Glenrowan on the Monday night ready for a leisurely drive to Mansfield on the Tuesday.Tasmania 2015 GTG Committee Member 2005 Prado Pilbara, Sovereign Bar, Driver & passenger weathershields, UHF TX3220, Spare wheel spaces, Lifestyle rack, Genuine front & midrow seatcovers, Genuine front & midrow rubber floor mats, ARB 47 litre fridge/freezer, Hilux washer jets, BF Goodridge A/T, Radiator protection plate, Dual battery tray and isolator, ARB 2.5m awning, Rhino heavy duty areo bars, MSA rear wheel bin, MAXTRAX

Vaughan, you won't need to go that high up the Hume unless you specifically wont to explore Kelly Country. I usually bail at Tallarook and head across through Yea, bypass Alexandra, through "We're going to Bonnie Doon" then through to Mansfield! Glenrowan is a lot further up the freeway than you need.150 with stuff bolted on!
