When you get to it, griffin park camping area is worth a few nights.
It's near mathinna on the banks of the Sth esk river, some steep rough tracks around the area to play on, some fishing? or just relax at the camp area which extends along the river, plenty of room there, nice n peacefull.
A fun way to get there, take a few mates who like cheese, beer, waterfalls, challenging tracks & 300?ish degree views & a great campsite.
Start from pyengana, visit the cheese factory there. Just up the road, stop in for a beer at the pub in the paddock where the pig drinks beer.
It's a special waterered down mix you buy at the bar or $1, so you could get full quick if you drink with pigs
Then up the road to st Columba falls for a little walk to burn off the cheese n beer.
Then it's time to get exited, continue up the road, to the end where it's "no though road".
Keep going, you will come to a log bridge, I'd recommend you get a spot over it.
After that, depending on track conditions, this could be quite challenging, I wouldn't have a camper in tow.
It can be quite washed out & rutted, there is a big tree to go over, it's cut out, but still a slippery step up with camber.
Continue up, it's very overgrown, you are driving through a rainforest like nothing else, it's pretty cool.
Then at the end, a few bog holes to contend with.
Once compleated, a left turn at the dirt rd, will take you south towards mathinna.
Follow it around to the right, through mathinna falls forest reserve. There is some falls around, I can't remember.
Along the way, you will find yourself up high with views just about all round.
You will then drop down & when you get to the river turn right, follow it down dont cross the bridge, a little further & you will arrive at camp.
Check, because griffin park may be closed if they are harvesting the forest.
Have fun!

Curried scallop pies, nice.
They are now found in many places of Tassie, some not as good as others.
The best ones I remember, one was at a bakery in launceston, where did you get that one? Mmmmm............
The best one I remember, well it was a few trips ago now, but when your in St. Helens, you go for a drive/play on the peron dunes /steiglitz.
If you not experienced with sand dunes,Take some company because the exit off the beach can be very soft. 15psi to start.
The important part, on the way there or back from St. Helens, there is a little convenience store, hard to remember really, but about half way.
It sells fuel, & has tables outside, they had the best ever! Curried scallop pies. I hope you guys can get out there.
Enjoy!

Fitted up the Rhino-Rack pioneer platform today. Added the Rhino-Rack shovel holders and the awning brackets.
Serviced the Stihl chainsaw from Tas Chainsaws and Mowers ready for any fallen trees across the track.
