Crickey, I hope I am right, is it still 5k service intervals for the new flash D4D ??
As yetiboy mentioned, the new D4D has the same service intervals as the petrol. I think I recall reading someone from the UK stated their intervals were every 10,000mi (16,093kms)! Go figure.

The only other difference that I'm aware of is a small difference in the cost of scheduled services, with the D4D services costing more over the year. You would probably need to print off your local dealership's service costs to get an estimate of that. I did see a post on that recently.

I guess I am anything but typical then. I just commented to my wife today as we were driving to Windsor that we have not even had our Prado for 4 weeks and already have over 6000 kms on it. I commented to her about the k's as she had just finished saying she wants to go to Brisbane for a couple of days in Jan. Crikey I reckon I will have close to 20,000 km on the Prado by the end of March.

So you're not really saving in fuel cost... you're appreciating the great fuel economy of the D4D... so you're driving it more!

Probably just a safeguard for Toyota. Their engines probably are capable of longer service intervals but they advise their customers differently.

No not really as I would have been doing these k's regardless of what I was driving. I once drove close to 20,000 km in one month back in June 2002. Man I was sick of the drive between Alice and Adelaide that month I can tell you.

I've got 40,000 Kms up since easter ... but only because I did a lap of the island in there. Without that I would have to find more PP days out to keep the odo ticking over

Actually I do not roam about with my job, the 20,000 kms was due to my wife being in hospital and me needing to do my shift hours as well. I would get off shift and drive straight down to Adelaide then back again the day after.

d4d is good with fuel economy but paying nearly 40cents more than petrol is no contest, and everytime you fill up diesel smells sticks to your hand. 1 dirty diesel fuel and it will ruin your whole trip. V6 POWER

bwahahahahaha talk about a grave dig  I wonder if the owners of both vehicles still feel the same ? I know personally we just recently looked at upgrading our V6 for a D4D but one test drive had me running for cover. Diesels are boring to drive for me its that simple and I cant see me owning one in the near future. So what did we do, we added LPG to the V6 and I must admit I am extremely impressed, theres something satisfying about filling a car for $35 and doing 350-400k from it. So with the addition of LPG and the new Prado looking like a scaled up Rav4 our V6 will see many more years in my garage 8) 8)

d4d is good with fuel economy but paying nearly 40cents more than petrol is no contest

Hmmm.... diesel is $1.16 here today (Adelaide) and 91 Unleaded was $1.13 (Filled both or vehicles this afternoon), and in the last three weeks I've filled/topped up in Whyalla, Roxby, Mt Dare, Birdsville, Lyndhurst, Loxton and Victor Harbour...in all these places diesel and petrol where either about the same price (Within a few of cents) or diesel was cheaper.

A quick check of fuel prices online (MotorMouth-fuel watch) in NSW shows about the same and in Sydney for example diesel is s few cents cheaper.

1 dirty diesel fuel and it will ruin your whole trip.
So will contaminated unleaded.... what's your point?
