Bought a 2012 plated vehicle in February after looking at prices on carsales, etc. GXL was advertised for $58.8K down from of $70.4K. When I went to dealer the salesman quoted the list price and offered an insulting trade-in price. I told him about the Internet prices and he told me they must be used or demonstrators and not available. I went to local dealer who browsed the Internet and matched the price, a discount of $12k just for waiting a few months into 2013. This means I paid the second hand retail price for a brand new car. Sure I will also get a lower resale value but in several years the difference will be much smaller. Also, if you are buying get all your extras at the same time - mine were at cost which won't happen if you go back the next day. I know the 'deal' is whether the negotiation is on the initial price or the deal as a whole. They were great. I don't like pushy sales people, but I was ready to buy, they picked it, and gave me a very fair deal.
Very happy with the experience and a great car. I got the diesel manual.Comment

Just bought new Oct 2012 plated GXL Diesel Auto with bullbar headlamp bonnet protectors, floor mats, tow bar, electric brake unit, window tint, $56k plus GST, on road costs, LCT, stamp duty total $66k
Got $30k trade for 2009 GXL diesel auto with 180,000km for a $36k change over
Usually buy around easter and get reasonable discount for last years model, we average about 45000km per year so discount is better at start than hoping for better resale when vehicle has done lots of kmsComment

just ordered Ebony d4d manual GXL thru local central qld dealer for 58k driveaway.got quote from scifleet and said you have five mins to match brisbane and local guy did down from the 66k driveaway they quoted the mrs two days before..get the usual crap about making stuff all on it and how scifleet turn over heaps at minimum profit blah blah,im not interested about your bottom end only my wallet!..only downside is i have to wait till july delivery as none anywhereComment
