You might want to check the build date on the VX. The Altitude will be a 2015, but I'm sure the VX will be 2014 reg 2015... either way it a good deal

Has anyone looked into whether you could put a kaymar bar on the altitude and move the spare onto rear and fit long ranger tanks if touring is your main aim?

I cant see why you could not do this. Fitting an even bigger tank then the stock 60lt that comes in the GXL.

Just remember that you would cop a lot a flack from the die-hard Prado Point Community for doing this as their logic would say why didn't you buy the GXL instead. Especially when monies is so tight that $15 will make or beak a holiday

Putting on my flame suit preparing for whats to come.

This would be a great set up, I'm sure the tank would bolt up, just more than likely be a bit of creativity plumbing up the tank. You would probably have to set it up to transfer into the main tank like when fitting aux tanks to hiluxs etc. and have to run an aftermarket fuel gauge for the second tank. Plus you would have to buy the fuel sender unit out of a twin tank prado, the aux tanks are set up to take one of these. I'm sure there would be other little bits to work out along the way, but hey, that's half the fun.

Also remember that having the spare wheel(s) on the tail gate will obstruct the rear window from opening unless you swing open the wheel carriage first.

I have a Feb 2012 Altitude and picked up my Feb 2015 Altitude on Saturday. I have noticed there are a few differences and can't believe some of the features they have got rid off.
              - As we all know the rear tyre and smaller fuel tank
              - No front sensors
              - No lights in the door
              - No speech command function
              - Single stack CD player instead of 6
              - Ugly two coloured seats (thank god for my WetSeat covers!)

              On the plus side:
              - Woo hoo I can now stream music from my phone
              - Black carpets/interior which I like better
              - Digital radio
              - Dark rims

Mmm two Altitudes. Too many Altitudes Might need to get rid of one soon!

[QUOTE=nanbar;500722]Good luck getting a GXL under $60K, god knows I tried hard as hell and managed to get it for 60 on the knocker, drive away, now extras. And that involved ring most of the dealers in Melbourne. Only one would entertain

Try country dealers in Victoria. I am. Better deals. Diesel and petrol. I prefer petrol/ gas. Had 120 series. Brilliant on fuel. Never a problem no oil usage at 270000km. I sold it. Still in family. Still going well. Time for new one.
