I used sci fleet, however it was a year ago, and you need to remember stamp duty has gone from 2% to 3.5% which will add about 800 bucks.Rob

When I was looking to buy a Prado in June-July 2007 one of the dealers in Melbourne advertised brand new GXL petrol for $51,990 plus on roads. I guess it was the end of financial year (June) and they wanted to move as many as they could. So, it's nothing new. Looks like they do it fairly regularly. Actually I ended up of buying my GX D4D from the same dealer.

Hi Navy,
I asked myself the very same question. And then I thought-do I really need a diesel GXL? I did not want to stretch my budget too far as I wasn't leasing the car.
Alloys? Not really, can live with steel rims. Roof rails? Definite NO-garage clearance too low. 6 CD stacker? I can add it later (or better still add an IPod compatible player with much better sound). Fog lights? Later.
Option available at the time gave me ABS, stability control, driver/passenger air bag, aircon, leather bound steering wheel and gear stick. Ended up buying a diesel GX with option plus auto, Toyota HD tow bar, mats-on the road 52K.

Hornet,
I like your thinking.
Just based to millage, you would need to drive about 60 000KM to recoup the 6K Diesel premium on a GXL.Navy
