I have towed 2.5t with both the Prado and the Colorado. The Colorado is rated to 3.5t while the Prado as we all know is stuck at 2.5t. Trust me the Prado is the better option. No way would I choose to tow the limit in the Colorado.

You rarely see a Jeep in the outback. The last Jeep I saw in the outback was driven by the Leyland brothers. Most are pulling big on-road caravans and piddling along at 80km/hr driven by large retired Queenslanders. The other Jeeps you see are the lifted 2 door versions with oversize tyres and over size plastic wheel arches which always seem to be broken. They never go outback either, settling for cruising the latte strips and co-ed gyms of the big cities.

Sorry neilaction, missed the obvious one!Originally posted by neilaction View PostAnd the fact they're not Wagons.
I thought there were a few guys on PP considering the change to utes due to the 3.5t tow.

And the fact they're not Wagons.
I'll wait for the Fortuner as it's only a few weeks away. The 26th I believe. Might have another look at the Everest while I'm waiting.
It's interesting as there seems so many options these days. It's a very crowded market in just about every car segment. It's hard to wade through it all.
But, the Prado does seem to have carved out a niche that no one else quite nails. It's got just enough unique qualities to give it a bit of room in the market. And if those qualities are things you value, then it does rise "above" the crowd. I use the word above with some reservation because in 2015, the Prado should be better.

Yes not a lot that the Ranger didn't take front place for.
So anyone considering a 3.5 ton dual cab option has to compare that the only real positives to the Prado is that parts are available all around the country fairly readily and fuel tank size...

Thanks Samuel.
That was a very interesting read.
Surprising how far back the new Hilux is and how good the Ranger is.
Makes me want to revisit the Everest and think less favourably about a Fortuner.
I guess what it really does it put the Prado clearly on top again.

another comparison, so those considering the utes as replacement option, very thorough report.

Us engineers stick together. I agree with Andrew...
And here are some words to support that hypothesis.

Guest repliedA laminated windscreen blocks all of UVB and most UVA radiation. Australian cars all have laminated windscreen as per ADR 8/01.Originally posted by Symo View PostNo they don't, some European brands offer it, you can usually tell by the green/purple tinge when they glare.
99% of windshield are not coated by law, they have to be completely clear.
