Considering a prado...but

It won't be for some time as I am going through some money debilitating home building soon if things go to plan, but after that, wtf. Get the home loan, build the McMansion and tack some extra $ for a new car, that way I will do my bit for inflation.
As for diesel or petrol, the car I drove was petrol and WOW. I am leaning toward petrol auto not because so much of the performance difference from a diesel, but a number of things. eg.The price of diesel. I consider it a by product fuel and if in the NZ plus a shed load of other countries sell it cheaper than what they sell ULP for, we should too. We pay to much for it. (call it moral objection).
I'm over changing engine oil every 5K. I reckon the diesel will get rattly eventually (200K+) mainly because my 80S got noisy, particularly after a dose of dodgy fuel (I wouldn;t like that in a C/rail diesel of any brand) and I reckon it is a diesel thing after time. Then there is the injectors and diesel pump, vane variable turbo is still a little extreme for my liking. Also as I do not do a great deal off roading mainly because I'm over the panel damage etc when things get needlessly tough, so I will put up with the excess fuel bill for those times. There is also the option of LPG should I be disappointed with economy, but a 13ish L/100 is what I get out of the 80S a petrol Prado is still a cheaper option when fuel costs are compared. I don't plan on doing any major trecking so the range from it should be enough from a std main tank and an LPG tank, if I do. If I do and I am restricted with my selection then I will live with it. Given time LPG will become more common....and dearer too but thats another thread.
Also I am considering one from the auctions or 2nd hand and they are really easy to find. VX's are a bit harder though.Matt
