  • Looking for a good Toyota dealership in the Sydney area

    Hi everybody,

I'm new to the whole forum deal and have been looking to purchase a new Prado either a MY16 or MY17. I'm unsure if i'm willing to take advantage of the end of year run out sales that will be taking place shortly, or if i'm happy to wait and get a new car ordered in a new year. I'm really looking for advice or opinions from people that have had good or bad experiences with Toyota dealerships in the Sydney area. I just want to know who to steer clear of and who may have a good reputation for all round sales and service in the long term. I've had a few bad experiences in the past with dealers (I honestly think most are crooks), so it would be good to have a hassle free experience for once and try and get a good deal.

Any assistance would be appreciated and thank you in advance!!

A 150 owner recently took his car there.
        Got home to find
        Front uni not greased
Bolt not checked to see if they were tight
        Air box full of rubbish
        Plus a few other things
All indicates the service was not done correctly
After some arguments he got his money back

I actually find that hard to believe. I use that dealership and they have CCTV in the workshop and when I once queried if something was done they showed me the vision. I bought my car there and have it serviced there and they have always been good.

To th OP if you think they are all crooks before you start and want a hassle free experience then buy second hand and get it serviced at an independent mechanic?

I have seen the pics the confronted the service manager with.
I have never had an issue with the dealer I go to.
Correct not all are crooks or incompetent

Thanks for the tip. I'll stay well clear of 2560!

                Hey Fred,

It's widespread. I'm not so concerned about things not being done, you naturally get that when they rush the children along.
The concerns are, when they do much more than an oil change, the damage they do.
Like when they try & complete an injector r&r. Sometimes it's ok, the one I did today was bloody good compared to a few others I have done recently. Just depends who you get to do the work on the day.
You see, just because you go to the same place, doesn't mean your going to get the same tech.
No big deal I suppose, most of the damage you won't even know about, till I see & point it out, lol......

I call it pick a part, they must have a bucket of bolts, when they strip your vehicle, chuck them in, when its time to reassemble pick some out. Nut & bolts missing. Clamps missing. Wrong bolts. Bent pipes. Cracked rocker covers.
1/2 tube of silicone. Dirty ports, loose or over tight Injectors. Damaged threads. Busted clips.

Like I say, I'm sure some places are ok.

I assume you use postcodes rather than a name, to avoid legal action?
I'd like to tell you a little I have learned about it. You don't need to name the dealer, even the postcode would be seen as enough for people to work out who it is. So that is not a defence.

The first defence to defamation claims is, if what you are saying is true.
If they want to drag the truth through the courts & get cut to pieces, then bring it on!
So as you do already, just stick to the facts & keep it clean & fire away.
We don't want people afraid to share (free speech).
If everybody gets nervous & bottles it up we cannot help each other.

Note, if you have 10 people with the same problem, the current affairs shows on TV are keen to hear about it.
That would potentially destroy a business with the truth.
So many directions businesses & people can choose to go.
A friend of mine, calls it the mirror thing, give them back what they give you.

                  What do you think?

I think the original poster is looking for a dealer to buy a new vehicle from, not regarding servicing.
I got my current Prado thru Terry SHeilds at Parramatta. Have bought 2 vehicles from them and been happy with the service and certainly the price of my current one. Have also got 2 cars thru Windsor Toyota and again happy, it always comes down to price.
New 2015 150s GX 5 seater with floor mats, towbar and a big wish list
Previously a 2004 120s 1KZ GX silver manual with stuff
before that a 1996 RV6 90S with lots of gear

True, i thought it was a bit of both, At the end of the day, you can't go too far wrong with a new purchase.
The vehicle is coming from Toyota. So shop dealers on price as you only need to deal with them for an hour or so & your done. Unless of corse you want to pay a few grand more for a one off experience with a nice salesperson.
