found this on another forum today

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went Prado 150 shopping in Perth yesterday with the son inlaw. Here's what I've learnt about the new 150 series that will be out in about 4 weeks. Prices are on the road with dealer delivery, luxury tax and rego. In terms of models they talk in Level 1 to 5 and so it may be hard to a do a like for like with the old ones. The cost will be from ~$65k to $100k over that range.

150 GXL diesel equiv was quoted at $72k on road. $1k less for petrol.
150 VX diesel equiv was quoted at $84k on road. $1k less for petrol.

200 GXL diesel $83 on road, $11k less for petrol.

No new 120 diesel's left, but they will do a petrol 120 GXL for $63.5k and a VX for $73k

Note that the 150 GXL has all the electronics including stability control, 7 airbags etc, but not the KDS, that's on the VX equivalent and above.

The fuel tank is now 150 litres, due to rear seats stowing by folding into floor. These are manual on GXL and electronic on VX and above.

Order one today and you'll get it in mid January, so Toyota has no problem selling at these prices, you'd never believe the $aus was over $us 0.90 eh?

Anyway, good news for owners of 120 DiD Prados in terms or resale methinks.

    Re: pricing for the 150

waks got these prices quoted in Perth yesterday (in other thread), although the prices I posted above were the same from two different dealers, so maybe they "forgot" the luxury car tax? Or maybe I look like a soft touch.

    Quoting post by waks on other thread;
My dealer gave me driveaway pricing today...
    $65-67k for GXL
    $76-78k for VX

In the good old days, a Grande could be had for $80K. I remembered back in 2004, I went shopping for a GXL petrol and could have walked out with $50K driveaway.

              WoW

Glad I got my GXL D4D 3 months ago, paid under $60.

              Not unhappy.

But if it uses 16.6% less fuel than you are in the same boat. (Difference between 180 and 150L tank)

(I have no idea how much fuel it uses)

                  From Toyota website:
The turbo-diesel engine has also been improved, resulting in fuel economy better than nine litres per 100km* and a low CO2 figure.

It also seems the 150s are slightly heavier (2990kg vs 2900kg). So the extra weight will also off-set any fuel efficiency advantage. Overall, I don't believe its improvements in design and fuel efficiency will be enough to ensure that the range of the new 150 series is similar to that of the 120 series D4Ds.

I'm with Mav - the larger tank is phenominal when doing long-range touring. I would still prefer to buy a run-out 120 series (tried and true) than go with a new 150 series. Maybe after a few years and consequential updates (along with an reasonable after-market support base), I might be convinced to think differently. But not yet.

So they believe with Australian diesel that it can achieve real world figures of 7.7 litres/100km, hmmm might wait and see what the owners get real world and not on the test track. Even so I wonder what the fuel figures will be once the mods go on, most likely the same as what I am getting now which in real terms means a decrease in range.

Sorry, don't get me wrong, I agree also that the extra range is important.

I was just hoping that the difference wouldn't be 30L equivalent in a 120 series.

Glad I bought my 2008-12 D4D Grande in April when I did, the dealer had it as a demo and was trying to shift stock so with less than 5000k on the clock I picked it up for over $10k off the sticker price.

I'm pleased with the features, engine, range, looks, established accessories market and of course the practical knowledge in forums like this of many other owners who are willing to share. It will be a few years before I look to change, I'd rather see if I can get 400,000 on the clock first

I cant beleive people are happy to pay that much for a new vehicle theses days. Up to 100k is far too much for me, id rather put that into real estate then into a vehicle that as soon as you drive it out of the dealership your lost $$$. Im sticking with my old 90s. I can scratch it, dent it and wear it out and I dont mind. Cheap to replace, swap over all the goodies and your got another good vehicle. As they say, dents are like scratches but with better stories.
