    Re: pricing for the 150

New 120 Diesels still available, Dealers asking close to $69K on road, all so quite a few demos available, close to the same money. for the price difference you would have to check out the new 150 before laying down the cash
As for $84K for a vx prado versus $83K for a gxl 200 series, I no which way I would go & it wouldnt be the prado

Went Prado 150 shopping in Perth yesterday with the son inlaw. Here's what I've learnt about the new 150 series that will be out in about 4 weeks. Prices are on the road with dealer delivery, luxury tax and rego. In terms of models they talk in Level 1 to 5 and so it may be hard to a do a like for like with the old ones. The cost will be from ~$65k to $100k over that range.

150 GXL diesel equiv was quoted at $72k on road. $1k less for petrol.
150 VX diesel equiv was quoted at $84k on road. $1k less for petrol.

200 GXL diesel $83 on road, $11k less for petrol.

No new 120 diesel's left, but they will do a petrol 120 GXL for $63.5k and a VX for $73k

Note that the 150 GXL has all the electronics including stability control, 7 airbags etc, but not the KDS, that's on the VX equivalent and above.

The fuel tank is now 150 litres, due to rear seats stowing by folding into floor. These are manual on GXL and electronic on VX and above.

Order one today and you'll get it in mid January, so Toyota has no problem selling at these prices, you'd never believe the $aus was over $us 0.90 eh?

Anyway, good news for owners of 120 DiD Prados in terms or resale methinks.

        Re: pricing for the 150

Hot off the press for our Qld members, these prices were given to me today for release on PP and are for Qld only.

        Quoting sales rep:

3 door SX T/D Auto (no manual) $60,290 driveaway

3 door ZR T/D Auto (no manual) $70,590 driveaway

        GX T/D 5 seat Auto (-$2500 Man) $62,830 driveaway (7 seat +$2500)

        GXL T/D Auto (-$2500 Man) $69,019 driveaway
GXL Petrol Auto (-$2500 Man) $68,307 driveaway

VX T/D Auto (no manual) $80,349 driveaway
VX Petrol Auto (no manual) $79,785 driveaway

Kakadu T/D Auto (no manual) $94,275 driveaway
Kakadu Petrol Auto (no manual) $93,664 driveaway

Feel free to post this up mate, these are definite QLD driveaway prices, any variance on these is dealer margin.

We have been taking orders for 2 months and have sold out of November T/D GXLs and half our December ones too.

        T/D fuel economy 8.8 litres/100km
        Petrol 11.5 litres/100km

Surprisingly the autos have better fuel economy than the manuals, can't remember the exact manual spec.

V6 Petrol is now dual vvti so 120's can't be remapped or anything to give similar economy.

        5 door 2500kg towing capacity, 3 door 3000kg.

I wonder how long until the KDSS will be a +$$ option on the GXL like in the LC200

Everyone who has the KDSS on the 200 rave about it and say its a worthwhile add onto the GXL 200

still trying to understand/find out what is standard on the GXL in terms of bush technology. Is traction control standard on all grades now?

I think I will wait til KDSS is a upgrade option on the GXL......or slowly save up the extra $10K+ for the VX

The Shorties are $15,000 - $20,000 each more expensive than the current Mitsubishi Pajero Shorties. These things had better be gold plated and fully optioned for this price difference, considering the Paj comes with traction control standard, Air Con, 6 stacker CD etc etc as a base model anddiff locker as a $500 option.

Also all NS/NT Pajeros have alarms, the upmarket Pajero SWB (X model) has HID low beam lights, electric drivers seat, leather, the 2009 version has sunroof standard and the 2009 diesel X has the rear diff lock as standard. But only 2500kg towing. So those prices seem to be a big premium for the towing rating.

                  Re: pricing for the 150

I think the next 12 months are going to be interesting for this car at these prices. That is a lot of money. My car has gone up over $10,000 - I can't afford $80K to replace my car next October.

I think families who want 7 seats who don't need the 4WD hardware will now have second thoughts and buy something like a Sante Fe, Captiva, Kluger, or even a Volvo XC90.

Hard core Prado tourers will drop down a level to the GX.

Pajero and Pathfinder will steal sales. They may (or may not) be inferior but at those prices the wallet takes over.....

And if you wanted to really spend $80K on a VX or $90K on a Kakadu, you would also seriously look at a LC200 or a Disco 4 (3.0l V6 TD 600Nm $84K).

You may find the bigger sellers will be the GX and the Kakadu.

This is really a low volume car in the global sense. Perhaps they have jacked the profit margin up to make it more viable,

Unless of course Toyota are going to release something under the Prado in the future (like the old 4runner size). Then it makes sense.

Hard core Prado Tourers already own a GX

Seriously though, with the price jump across the board, I think more true tourers who have that sort of dough to spend will look at the 200. At least you'd feel you're getting something more for it. Personally I'd be looking a lot more seriously at the 76 series, if only they'd make a little more comfy and up to date inside to keep the wife & kids happy. Haven't heard much about it lately, last time I looked there was nothing really promoting it on toyota's website. Regardless, that'll be a while unless something changes in my life soon :?

                        Hello Nissan!

The Prado is a great vehicle, but its not that good. The 150 would want to be pretty special.

Just Toyota being Toyota. They expect with all the hype around a new vehicle that people will just shell out their hard earned.

This new Prado would will have to be one hell of a vehicle to justify the coin! I'm on my seconf 120, and I doubt I'll be trading up in 5 months when the lease is up.

We'll see how the quotes pan out!
