      Re: pricing for the 150

The PRADO now has become too expensive. It has become a
luxury car. If i was to buy a gxl and add ARB bulbar, suspension lift,
driving lights, second battery, canvas seat covers, at tyres, etc
i'll be looking at over $80000.00. and then go bush bashing i do
not think so.Such things as the steering reclining ala lexus.MY brother has
a es300 lexus with reclining steering which wore out (the bush).toyota wanted
$1500.00 to change the bush.He opted to do without the reclining steering.
at this price it has become out of reach for the average 4wdriver just like
the landrover and the 200 landcruiser.Yes Prado will sell well but i do not think
you will see many in the bush...

        Gotta agree Nick.

The Challenger is on it's way back.

Just got an email from Mitsu.....131KW, 400NM manual or auto, super select 4wd and diff lock. From what I've heard pricing will be btwn $45 to $57K.

Given this sits on a Triton chasis and is basically a Triton with a boot, after market accessories will be a given.

Lovely cars to drive. The steering wheel even tilts up when you turn the ignition off ..... most impressive!!
A real Prado with all unreal leather and not even plastic-wood

Then why the LC150 costs $10k more than the LC120 :?:

Bear in mind that the Gov't is now getting over $4,000 more in LCT on the LC150 models which no longer get under the $57,180 (?) limit which hasn't gone up.

                Re: pricing for the 150

                hi,

to be honest if i was to buy a new 4wd now it would the
new mitsubishi pajero. It has value for money well equipped
fantastic gearbox and the diesel motor much less problematic
than the prado. I love patrols(had one) like toyotas (have one now)
but at the moment the mitsubishi takes my vote if i was after a diesel.
I'll keep my petrol prado for a long time yet i have modified it to a level
                which is just right......

                Nick...

                  Re: pricing for the 150

Agree, the pajero was good value for money especially when you take into account the 10 year drivetrain warranty which comes standard (at least when I went looking into it).
In the end it was toyotas reliability which sold me, although my other half couldnt stand the look of the Poo jero (her words)

                    Re: pricing for the 150

just remember why the pajero is good value, it is discounted just about every week, it does nothing for the resale and i wouldn't mine betting that the resales of the 120 hold strong with the increase of the 150 pricing.

Only on the engine and drive train (Mechanical not electrical) and only for the original purchaser, it reverts to a standard warranty once you sell it.

Still a good thing if you are buying new and intend to keep it long term.

                      fantastic gearbox
I could put you on to someone that is very unhappy with his Pajero g/box (manual) and transfer case :!:

i'm not looking at upgrading my prado but if i had the choice my wifes car would be gone as she drives the prado most anyways, and for the price of the new prado's i would be looking at the 70 series cruiser wagon, solid diffs front back and factory option lockers. i looked at one of these before i got the prado and there very similar size inside, spartan but i always get canvas anyways inside.

                          Re: pricing for the 150

Luxury car tax is only charged on the amount over the threshold so it is only a few hundred on most models.

Also the GXL is now only $2500 more than the old model. Based on the included specs it actually is better value than before because it now inludes things like 3 zone climate control, full curtain airbags, vehicle stability control and traction control (the old option pack 1) height adjustable front seats, telescoping steering wheel, rear reversing camera and reverse parking sensors and the autos all include the full DAT features like downhill assist and hill start assist.

In fact apart from leather it is better specced than the old VX. The more approriate comparison feature on feature would be the GX and even this model is better specced than the old GLX.

Only real problem is the very little discounts available during this intial sale phase.

That seems like a decent price if you add up the extras,

towbar $ 1300. (remember the taxes of 43% applies GST and LCT on any ammount over $57180. basicly all options)
                            tint $400
                            Fuel $200
                            Mats, and plastics $??

What is the price diference between the manual and auto?

I was quoted yesterday $63900. drive away, NO OPTIONS, not even a towbar for Turbo Diesel, GXL auto 5 door metalic paint, and there is a trade in involved which was offered at above market (wholesale) price, so I will be ordering this weekend. Feb delivery.

I will fit a ARB body colour sahara bar or equivelant and a reece or arb towbar, by the time I get the car the aftermarket stuff will be available.
A set of fitted seat covers to stop the kids from destroying the seats, wish I could get leather, around $66-67K I will be good to go, I will wait to see how things like Turbo timers, UHF's and duel battery set-up go after the 200 series drama's.

well i got standard price of towbar at $900,they tint at the toyota workshop, and as a deal they always throw in the little extras, but he said the $2000 odd discount came from toyota and could pass on to me (not sure about truth) $2500 less for manual, i think he was keen to move the car, because of LCT he also said to reduce it he can do a seperate invoice the next day for bullbar and towbar on seperate invoice to reduce the tax aswell
                              150 on order ??

Not sure where this came from, but my quotes on a GX manual diesel where $7K more than my current GX. Yes that 3 years on, but its a still a massive jump give what else you can get for your money now.
