New vehicle delivery times ?

Thanks to P1 ive been tracking my boat the Talisman from Brisbane Port to Port Kembla where it leaves at 2200 tonight heading for Melbourne,where it docks for one day.
Then they can hit the go pedal flat stick all the way to Perth for the 11 Dec at 12 noon.From there its only 25 kms from me but probably 2 weeks with customs.

Great to hear that the tea lady in Japan has updated the system.
I don't know what info Hoppy50s dealer claims to be privy to but I believe everyone uses the same system it's just that some customers can access it as well.
Anyway as I can't access the system time to hassle the dealer again, lets hope customs and ports don't have a go slow this xmas.

Just checked mine as well and it has changed to in transit as well, so it looks like late Dec/early Jan for me as well

Yeah me too, dealer said it may be arriving at the dealership on 20th/21nd.
As long as it arrives early Jan for our holiday! :P :lol:

Just placed order

After much consultation of this forum plus reviews on web and print, sold ourselves on a Prado VX D4D. With Carpets, Toyo towbar and bullbar usual charges and extended warranty $70395.00.

Preferred Toyo bars to eliminate warranty issues over failures when after market bars fitted.

Many thanks to forum contributors for advice and guidance on best price.

Looking forward to March 2008!

My guess as to "when my ship would come in" was on the money. By this time tomorrow my extremely overdue wheels (and hopefully the rest as well) will be in the dealer's yard.

Pick up Friday 14/12 once they have fitted tyres, towbar and reversing sensors. That's exactly 6 months from the the day I ordered.

Unfortunately, they did not put a booking in at ARB until I actually rang them yesterday, which means I have to lose the car again on the 19th and 20th to get the front and rear lockers fitted.

Then its off to Hardings Caravans on the 21st to get the Brake Controller and hotwire fitted, at which point I'll be ready for my holiday to Port Stephens in more ways than one.

They did hit me with a $500.- extra for the new spec, but they included a couple of extras at "no charge". Specifically, upgrade to the new CKMA12 ARB compressor and tyre inflation kit and a "better" after market reversing sensor that has a distance display which is apparently mounted over the rear view mirror and importantly for caravan towing, also has a volume control.

After reading through some of the stories about delivery times on new vehicles I realise that I was extremely lucky in taking delivery of my vehicle. After finally making the decision to buy an auto turbo diesel I went to a dealer on the Gold Coast to get an idea on what they would give me for a trade on my old Commodore. They advised me that a guy that had ordered exactly that had had his finance fall over and was no longer proceeding with the purchase. That was on a Monday morning (10 Sept 2007) so I signed up there and then. I was told it would arrive in about a month. Then they rang me two days later to say it had arrived early and I was able to pick it up that Friday (14 Sept 2007).

So from the time I signed the contract to the time of delivery was only 5 days. Not only that it turned out the vehicle was the first one through the dealership with the updated specs - ie the dual zone climate control; a/c in the back for the kids; stereo controls on the steering wheel etc.

I've had the thing for a couple of months now and have done 10,000klm and couldn't be happier. Giddy up !!

My dealer rang today to tell me my VX is on the way to the Toyota holding yard in western sydney. Should be at the dealership by friday and ready to pick up by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

The boat with my VX Prado arrived just a couple of days ago....
