    Bastard of a wait.

    I got mine in a month BUT I did have to threaten the dealer that I was going to take an action under the Trade Practices Act for false advertising and deceptive and misleading conduct.

    In early June 08 a Brissy dealer put an add in the newspaper saying they had a brand new GXL D4D in STOCK!! So I rang and asked if it was still there. Sales bloke said it was so I gave dealer my credit card number for a deposit and went and organized a week off work to go down and get it. Before I was about to leave Rockhampton I rang the dealer to get VIN details of the vehicle for finance, insurance etc and it was then that the dealer said it wouldn’t be available for at least 6 weeks as the vehicle was still in Japan. So I got stuck into them and cited the relevant bits of legislation that they had breached for false advertising etc and said I am taking the newspaper with the add to a solicitor.

    I told the dealer that the rider in the Toyota contract about changing delivery times DOESN'T cover them for placing a deceptive and false add in the paper. I said WHEN the case is proved they're looking at hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines and penalties and a possible loss of their dealer’s license. I could hear the dealer crapping his dacks over the phone as I was giving it to him. (Also I was pi$$ed off cos I was about to waste a weeks leave stuck in Rocky doing nothing- ho hum.)

    Anyway I got them to agree in writing to keep the price at the pre June 30 price and THEY had to cover the increase in luxury vehicle tax etc and told them I’m still considering the court action. After that - they were pretty good and managed to get the vehicle organised relatively quickly and I took delivery 1 month after the initial contact with them.

      hi all, i ordered my new silver D4D auto GXL last week and picked it up last night, which i must say i was extremly happy with, after getting out of an 04 manual diesel and into the auto, i will never go back.

        It is amazing what a dealer can do when you tell them you want to cancel the order!! Although I have had to make some changes to what we will get.

        Went from Silver Ash to Charcoal Grey. And from Manual to Auto. Still with option pack 1. And now i can expect delivery in the next 4 to 6 weeks depending on how soon they can get it on a truck up here to Hedland. Although I am considering a trip to Perth to pick it up if it could be here sooner.

        The most anoying bit is that the dealer in SA is saying if i ordered with them they can all but guarantee delivery before November. If I had any idea the WA allocation system was as bad as it is i would have moved along time ago.

        When I called Leaseplan to cancel my original order, they said that I was the 5th order that day that they had cancelled for a Commercial Toyota! Bet they are all from WA!!!

        Still not sure if i should start to get excited yet or not, but at least the begining is near!

          We ordered our GXL in the last week of June. We're told today that it definitely won't be delivered until end of September 2008. :cry:

          Could get white, silver or grey earlier... but don't want to change our choice of colour.

          Damn the wait is frustrating... but at least our savings for some extra accessories is growing. 8)

            Ordered my GXL, Auto in Feb. 08, just been notified that it has arrived this week and is in the Customs holding yard at Outer Harbour.

            Almost surreal feeling, as I don't believe that I actually might pick it up next week sometime.

            Hopefully some other Adelaideans will be getting theirs too via this shipment.

                I strongly suspect that when I bought my D4D last year that the initial wait period quoted was to keep me interested. Seems that some people who've posted here have been able to pick up their vehicles not so long after placing the order. My wait was a full 6 months. I was expecting it the month before but a "computer error" in Japan had meant it didn't go up the production line that that month. Whatever, I didn't believe a word at the time. Unless things have changed, I'd at least still expect a 6 month wait. Unless you can bag someone else's car that they couldn't pay for. I've felt your waiting pain. :?

                  It's Oh so close........ Dealer has told me our baby is on the truck and is now somewhere between Perth and here!! Delivery was to be Tuesday, but as life would have it, i'm away with work til Wednesday. I guess an extra days wait won't hurt.. :P

                    I recon the extra days wait will hurt. Hope it goes as great as everyone elses has.

                      Well I was given a 3 month time frame "at least" the sales guy said... I ordered my Prado on the 22nd of June... Just found out yesterday that I will be seeing it in 2 weeks So I month earlier then expected because somebody else couldnt afford to pay for their prado :!: I am sure not complaining! 8)

                        We are so jealous. We ordered our Prado on just about the same date exactly and were told the same thing - at least 3 months to wait. And we're still waiting!! :cry:

                            Funny you should say that... I have already got my winch, spot lights, cargo mat, floor mats and seat covers ready to go on the prado. Just need to get the arb bull bar for the winch and spotties first! :lol:

                              Geez BPC you've got a bad case of "Prado Fever" there methinks!! :lol: :lol: :lol: Well... I can hardly talk.... I've had it a while...

                              What seat covers did you get?? I'm wondering about this. For camping trips you really need some hard wearing stuff that can cop a beating. I'm thinking something canvas like for that.

                              Still need roof rack, decent air compressor, offroad tyres, decent tent, another spare tyre plus rim, cargo barrier, CB radio, GPS, reversing camera, cargo net, camping table + chairs, suspension upgrade, HID conversion kit for the 240 Blitz, winch, ............ And the list goes on. One day I'll find the end of it!

                                I just got some seat covers off ebay, they are taylor made for prados, nothing special but it will still protect the seats.
