Hi all
Currently doing the research into picking up a Prado, and have come across a 120 series (2005 model) that looks fairly clean (given the age and mileage) and is a great price.
BUT it's got 340K on the clock. Looking at the service receipts, it looks to have had regular servicing, and it was living it's life out at Mitchell, QLD so I'm very inclined to believe alot of those km's are genuine highway k's (Mitchell is 600km's from Brisbane, so it's definitely rural rather than urban).
It's got the 4.0L petrol, and from a quick look around these are in the FJ and a few others, so that would suggest Toyota having some faith in them. I've seen a few posts while searching of FJ's with 270K miles (so around the 400K+ km mark) and a few Canadian FJ's with 400k km as well.
It'd be more of a weekend explorer, hit Fraser/Bribie/Moreton/Straddie every couple of weekends in summer, type of car, but for a few months would be a 'daily' (not much driving given COVID, but it'd be the only car probably for 6 months, so some decent reliability would be required).
Chasing some thoughts from the community before investing time in a proper inspection. For reference, asking price is $11,000 - also has an ARB bar on it, so figure that's of some value.
Cheers
Edit: just to add, I realistically do about 10-15K a year, so if it lasted 3 or 4 years to tick over the 400K mark, that'd probably be value for money IMO. Just chasing some (hopefully) unbiased opinions
