I spoke to my dealer yesterday as I did not receive the usual end of month update. Toyota Japan are said to have advised of an increased production schedule and the dealer is awaiting updates.

My Dealer mentioned the same, 30% increase in production apparently.

Thanks for the confirmation Andy. I'll post again if/when I hear something.

I assume the 30% increase starts from where the 40% cut took them in recent months, so production would still appear to be down, but any improvement is welcome.

We placed an order for a Pearl White VX on the 30th October and have been told to expect delivery by 1st June (worst case scenario). Would be good to know anyone else’s actual delivery timeframes and hopefully timeframes start to reduce!

I ordered at the end of July and still have no update on expected ETA - the Toyota tracking system shows the production month still hasn’t been confirmed. Good to hear some others are having more luck and that production is increasing.

Out of interest, what timeframes have people seen between the build date and delivery date? From looking at previous posts it seems about 2 months

When I get an update from my dealer each month, I ask if they delivered any Prados that month and when they were ordered. At the end of September, those deliveries were from February/March orders.

Japan has since had serious problems with covid in recent times (much better now) and Toyota did cut production by 40% in September because of that and chip shortages.

So, despite the recent news they are increasing production by 30%, I would not be holding my breath for delivery any time soon.

I agreed to a deal in late April which went on to their order book officially in early May with a 4 month delivery window. that I accepted.

7 months already and zero idea of when I will get a vehicle.

At this point I am kicking myself for not buying an Izuzu MUX when they had excellent deals several months ago with the build change over. A lesser vehicle, but more than capable for the vast majority of places I'd be going and considerably cheaper.

I wrote to Toyota HQ here seeking better information which did not elicit any acknowledgement at all.

I get it they have problems not of their creation, but the lack of any information is really p'ing me off.

ordered a VX and it hit the production line today

anyone know how long it takes to build and then how long to ship to Perth.

I know it won’t be an exact date but any thoughts or indications would be appreciated

I was given one of those "Your vehicle has entered production" lies by Toyota marketing as well. Three months later (late August this year) I took delivery. Sailing time to Australia is less than three weeks. Others may have had a different experience. Patience my friend.

Earlier in the year it was 5-6 weeks from starting production to delivery, but all bets are off in the current environment.

Toyota have just obtained stocks of over 1 million ECU chips. They are planning on producing 800,000 cars in the next couple months to get back onto production schedule.

update on our GXL :
We have been told that it has changed to A10 Status - Order Transmitted....

Our Dealer is optimistic that it should hopefully be in the October production run, however i am not holding my breath as they did warn about extended delay due to component shortages.

Our car is ready for collection at the dealer, arrived into the country on the 9/11. We will pickup next saturday.
For us to receive our car within a 3 month window is simply amazing. i do really feel for you guys who havent received yours yet. From what i believe we just got lucky with a production run in our exact specifcation.

Our car is ready for collection at the dealer, arrived into the country on the 9/11. We will pickup next saturday.
For us to receive our car within a 3 month window is simply amazing. i do really feel for you guys who havent received yours yet. From what i believe we just got lucky with a production run in our exact specifcation.

Nice one!! This gives me hope as ours was confirmed in build this month, which might mean it will hit AU this year hopefully!!

Thanks HJP, good thinking asking when current deliveries were ordered. Quite a delay it seems.

Hopefully they can start making up for lost ground and get ours cars through in the next couple of months. The lack of information is very frustrating.

I'm somewhat envious having ordered the GXL myself 7 months ago. My error it seems was ordering the GXL with premium interior.

Hi all.
been lurking for a while 1st post. Ordered a Graphite GXL with factory leather on 10/06. Was told by dealer delivery was early August. Got delayed to late August then delayed until late September. Got notified by the dealer that the car had arrived at Port Kemble last Monday 20/09. And would be at dealership on 28/09. Hope to see it soon.
but it has to go for GVM upgrade, barwork and wheels and tyres before pickup so hopefully I should take delivery around the 14/10. It’s been a long four months.
