General consensus is there wont be a decent tyre in 265/55R19 for some time... years is the feeling..

      Very Crappy!

          this looks promising,
i might still consider getting a 2nd set of 18" wheels for longer travels just to have more choices in case you damage more than 1 tyre.
ideally would prefer 17", and i already have FJ with 17" all terrains, so in the ideal scenario keep 19" for city work and just swap to 17" from FJ for long distance travel

I bought a set of new 2021 GXL 17" rims and fit some Falken Wildpeaks.

yes thats what i have on my FJ 17" with Falkens Wildpeaks.
but with new Kakadu legally i will be limited to go down only 1 size from 19" to 18" and not sure if 17" will clear everything, with FJ offset i think it should .
will see in 6-12months when i get it

You may want to check your facts. Tyre placard lists 17 and 19 inch wheels Click image for larger version

where did you get this ?
is it for current Kakadu ?
none of the dealers have current Kakadu in stock so i couldnt check tyre placard. if it really says 17" that would be amazing !!!

                      oh ,cool
but VX could be different, it doesnt have KDSS , i was told KDSS might not clear 17" wheels on Kakadu.
I only found previous generation second hand Kakadu at the dealer and their tyre placard had only 1 wheel size 18".
maybe i should change my order to VX instead of Kakadu to give me more tyre options, but really liked the KDSS/airbag combo

I'm pretty sure that both the VX and Kakadu only come with 19" tyres, so are not really suited to rough roads or off road. But then, you wouldn't want to scratch the paint or test the door seals on a pretty VX or Kakadu, would you?

Who says? My Kakadu (18" wheels) is currently covered in mud and dust. Door seals seem fine.

The discussion was about new deliveries - 2022. According to Red Book, both the 2022 VX and Kakadu come with 265/55 R19 wheels, unlike to the GX and GXL. Wheels like those would not be particularly suited to driving on rough roads with lowered tyre pressures. Toyota door seals are pretty good, I was thinking that not many owners of vehicles (that have 265/55 R19 wheels) would drive in places that would test them. No offence intended.

fast driving on corrugated roads can damage the tyre more likely with 19" than 18-17"
Im not gonna use it as a rockcrawler or submerge it in a deep mud up to the bonnet, like a lot of P-platter Patrol drivers do
i would use it for travelling outback, camping trips etc. , towing camper trailer in the future
dont mind getting it dusty and dirty

What are people paying for a VX these days? What sort of wait time should you expect at the moment?
